Hi, I was interested in Kona Cafe. How was the food and service?

Me, too! I was wondering how Kona was for dinner. I've only had lunch there!

We really enjoyed it!! I thought the atmosphere was really soothing, and the CMs were really friendly!! The menu is a little different from what appears on allearsnet.com, but most of it's the same. We split the Kona Salad as an appetizer. We really liked the fruit and nuts in it, but weren't too thrilled with the dressing (I think it was tangerine dressing). I had the Coconut Chicken. I wouldn't order it again (just not my personal fave), but it was good. DH had the Beef Teriyaki, which was delicious. We ended up fighting over who got to eat the steak and potatoes (yummmmm)!!!. We also had Koko Puffs (mmmmm) and the Banana Creme Brulee (also very good) for dessert. It came to a little over $60 for the meals and sodas, and all in all I'd say it was a great meal!!

Thanks for the review. Sounds yummy! The beef terryaki is my favorite too.
As a side note for those interested... that used to come with sticky rice, not potatoes. They will let you subsitute rice if you prefer that. In fact when we asked they said substituting any of the starches on any meal is perfectly fine.

We both had burgers, fries and soda and the Sci-Fi, and thought it was the best burger we'd ever had at Disney! Cooked exactly the way we asked for it, and brought to us pretty quickly. Unfortunately we were too stuffed for dessert, but the ones the people around us were eating were delicious!! I was a little shocked that the bill came to about $30 for two burgers, fries, and sodas... but I guess you pay for the atmosphere, and it was well worth it!!

Thanks for posting. We're trying Sci Fi with 4 little girls for the first time. I'm hoping to hit Kona for deserts one day too!

We have only eaten dinner there, and it was long ago, but think we may do lunch here the next trip. Would it be fun for kids (10 and 7.5)? Were there enough selections that weren't too German? (for the kids, DH and I like German). Also, I read there's no sauerbraten at lunch. Is this still the case? We looove sauerbraten!

We enjoyed the Biergarten a lot. That said, we both love German food in general, so that may have had an impact. I personally spent lots of time munching on pork, bratwurst, sauerkraut and strudel, and can't remember a whole heck of a lot else that they had. If your kids like pork, sausage, and dessert than they shouldn't have too much trouble at all. They'll probably enjoy the atmosphere, since it looks like a real german biergarten, and will definitely have a good time watching the show. And who knows, one of them may even be chosen to be the guest conductor!?!

we were just there also and ate at the sci-fi and the ice cream social. My kids loved the sci-fi as did the rest of us. They loved watching the movie while the ate---actually it was the best behaved they were at all of our meals.

It was okay --- nothing spectacular, but definitely a great way to get a character "meal" without the cost of one. My only complaint was about the restaurant itself. I don't like eating it what seems like such a small space. Since it revolved, you're seated at tables that are in the shape of an "O", with the inside rows of tables being set up higher than the outside row. Since we were seated on the outside I felt totally secluded from the rest of the restaurant. Didn't even know the characters were coming until they got there. The ice cream was delicious though, and we managed to get individual pics with each character without feeling rushed for only $7 a pop. You can't beat that with a stick!!
