We arrived May 4th, couldn't check in to our room until 4:00 so we headed to Epcot for our first character meal at the GARDEN GRILLE resaraunt. Had 12:00 PS's. We were seated after about 10 minutes. My DH had a special meal request (fat free) so the chef came out and made some suggestions & cooked him grilled chicken/baked potato/veggies with no butter. The rest of us had the regular meal. It was good. Not great but pretty good. The problem we had with this restaraunt was the SLOW and RUDE waitress. I thought this meal was all you can eat! It took her 1/2 hour to bring more chicken and mashed potatoes and by the time she arrived the rest of our meal was stone cold & we didn't want it anymore. She acted quite annoyed too. I wish I wrote her name down so you nice people could avoid her. Anyway the strawberry shortcake dessert was really good! We didn't let her spoil our first day in "the World" ...things got better after that.:D

Our next big meal was the next day on Monday evening. (all other meals were eaten in our villa) We went to Beirgarten for 6:30 PS's. We waited again about 10 minutes. We had a very pleasant server this time. The food was pretty good. My picky almost 3 year old had a hard time finding something but he did eat some chicken. We loved the warm pretzels! Yum! The atmosphere is really fun for kids in that restaraunt!
I forgot to mention that earlier that day we went to AK and had the most delicious cinnamon roll there. It was a t the Tusker House in the Africa section. I have had breakfast here before and this is a really yummy place to stop for something quick!

On Tuesday the 6th we went to MGM and ended up eating in the ABC commisary. We had a late breakfast.....pretty good for fast food! We had french toast and pancakes. We couldn't wait to get out of there though because they run ABC commercials constantly on about 20 t.v.'s. AGGGHHHH! We thought they should just run a nice sitcom or something.....

On WED. we went to Typhoon Lagoon and ate at one of their fast food places. I think it was Leaning Palms or something like that. We were hungry and it was pretty good. Lemonade hit the spot. My Dad had pizza and he said it was just okay. I had a turkey wrap and I liked it.
We did the San Angel Inn at Ecot at 7:30 that evening. Our server was in lala land. We had to ask him if we could order after we had the menus for at least a half hour. We thought the meals were just okay. I got the combo. Too expensive for what you get. Loved the Margarita's though! Couldn't taste any alcohol. Our server was still in lala land when we were waiting for our checks. We waited forever! He was nice but let's speed it up a bit! We would skip this dinner next time. Maybe just have a drink and nachos or something like that.

We did MK on Thurs and ate at the Crystal Palace for lunch. We had an awesome server...I wish I could remember her name! (Next year I will!) The food was delicious! (Fun characters too!!!) The salads and cold meats were great. Hot food was roasted pork and beef I believe. Desserts were to die for. There was a chocolate pecan number that was awesome! We would definitely return here!

On Friday evening we did the Lotus Blossom cafe in Epcot. I had the sweet and sour chicken combo. I liked it although it was similar to other chinese restaraunts I have been to. The egg roll was a bit garlicy and funky..............Everyone in our party seemed to enjoy their meals.

Our check out day was Saturday and I made 7:40 PS's at the Cape May Cafe. I read so much about it here on the Dis boards I had to try it. It was by far the best meal we had there. We were seated immediately. We had a ton of time with all of the characters. The food was great. there was so much! Just the fruit area alone was unbelievable. I enjoyed the pancakes, fruit, and a bananna blintze...that was really good. There were tons of sweets too, if you have any room left. I would highly recommend this buffet. It was the best!

If anyone has any questions I would be more than happy to answer them for you!!!

;)

I've never eaten at the Garden Grille, probably because there are to many other great restaurants (not staying this is not one of them). Would you recommend it, would you return if you had better service.

Thanks

Hi Mike,
I probably will return despite the poor service on this visit. I noticed a lot of other nice servers all around us. Ours just wasn't on the ball.
The atmosphere is fun. We liked the revolving restaraunt and the various scenes from the "Living with the Land" ride.
The food was good. Everyone in my group liked it. I would give it a 6 3/4 out of 10.
The characters here were very attentive and came around a couple of times.
Overall we enjoyed it and I would go back and hope we don't get the same server!!:D

The rotating part of the restaurant is what I'd like to check out. It sounds like somthing fun to actually watch. Seeing that Living with the Land is one of my favorite rides, I would think I would like that aspect. By the way did you get some type of salad?

Thanks

6 3/4? Thats just funny! :p

My question is about Cape May... you mentioned blintz.. yum!

But I don't like bananas - do they have the plain blintz with the sweet cottage cheese filling?

Thanx for all the reports - your family is so easy going and you will have a good time no matter where you dine :D

Mike,
I can't remember if there was a salad of not...I think it is at the dinner not the lunch but I am not sure.......... check out Deb's site for the menu to be certain. Sorry!

>>^..^<<,

I just couldn't bring myself to give it a 7!!!! lol!

I always appreciate the members taking the time to post their reviews!
I'll remember the cinnamon roll tip in AK! Thanks!

I enjoyed reading your reviews, thanks for sharing them! :)

Oh and I forgot to answer >>^..^<< about the bananna blintz. that was the only one I saw there. It was different than other blintzes that I have had. the outside was fluffier like a thin pancake not a crepe. Creamy filling inside....was good! By the time I found it I was so stuffed I just forced it in! Next time it will be one of the first things on my plate!

Thanks for the reviews. The Cape May breakfast sounds really good. We also encountered a rude server and a rude hostess (different restaurants) along with the usual terrific ones our last trip.
