We just returned from the 5/30 Wonder with a 1 night stay at the Ron Jon Resort after the cruise and a day at the Kennedy Space Center. We absolutely loved the cruise along with our 3 and 5yo girls. We had beautiful weather and very calm seas. I received lots of great tips from this board so I'd be happy to answer any questions.

When did you register your kids for the kids club and was there a huge line? Do you think it's best to register them at 12:30, after the lifeboat demo, or in the evenning? Just trying to decide which would work out the best. And has anybody heard of a situation where the clubs are fully booked and your kids NOT get in? Thanks for your input.

We registered the kids right after dinner (early seating) on the first night. Registration is closed from 3:30-4:30 due to the lifeboat drill. Being there were activities taking place in the club at this time they had a table set up in the hall way for registration. No wait when we got there but after we were done the crowds had arrived. Also, your kids do not have to be with you to register.
You will never be turned away at the club-there is enough space for the amount of children on board.

How was RonJon's?

We are cruising for my son's 10th b-day in Jan. We are staying at RonJon's on the 15th and sailing on the 16-21. It looks wonderful from the PassPorter.

I was curious who you had for servers and a stateroom attendent?

We enjoyed Ron Jons. We had a studio room which was very nice/bright with a small kitchenette. The pool area is great-lazy river, very fun water slide and pool. They have a movie theatre/game room and large inside climbing gym. We didn't eat at the restaurant although it looked very nice. We are planning on going back again in July. The pool area is perfect for a 10 year old!

Piper G-We had Maria and Eva-they were very nice but didn't not do anything extra/special like I had read about other servers-but no complaints-they were friendly with good service. Our stateroom attendant was Dante.

We are considering a stay at Ron Jons prior to and a day after our 11/20/04 Western sailing. How did you get to and from port from Ron Jons??

We live in Florida so we drove from port to Ron Jon's-very close!
I called there 1-800 number for reservations.

What is the reservations number for Ron Jon's? I have sent two requests via the website as well and never received a response.

Hi! We're staying 2 nights at Ron Jon's before our Nov Wonder cruise. Did you use the kitchen often? Or did you eat out? Which restaurants do you recommend? Hopefully it's kid-friendly. Will be travelling with 5 kids (2yrs - 17 yrs). Thanks!

Juliadan,

Thank you for posting. I am trying to throw together a July cruise for just ds13 and myself (DH hates characters, parades, rides, crowds . . you get the picture). Anyway, I know you have little ones but did you see teens on board? How were your dinner table mates or did you just have your own table? And finally, what were your thoughts on the dress code? We can dress up - no problem, or dress casual, I would never wear shorts to dinner and neither would he (not cool mom).

Was Castaway Cay a mob scene?

Thanks, I know I asked a lot.

Here is the web site for RonJons. http://www.ronjonresort.com/default.shtml There is a phone number on it. That is how I made my reservations. They do not take reservations at night or on weekends. It took several days by e-mail and I gave up!

Thanks for the info on your stay juliadan!

Thank you for the info.

I also tried to e-mail my reservation but after 48 hours, I called and reserved the old-fashioned way...I actually talked to someone.

About a day later I did get an e-mail quote back and much to my surprise, my phone rate was a bit cheaper than the e-mail quote. Weird-but good!

My family will include me, 37- DH 38, DD 13, DS 9 turning 10, and DD 8. I can't wait.

And I'm learning so much from these boards. As you can see this is only my second post....but I've been lurking for quite a while;)

Mine will be 3 and 5 when we cruise. How did you and your kids like the clubs? Did you feel secure using them? Were your girls together most of the time?

Thanks!

so what is the going rate that people are getting for a studio? I'd like to be prepared for when I call and ask...

Lilo 5-We only stayed 1 night so we did not use the kitchenette-We did McDonalds for the kids at lunch and went out to a restaurant called Sunset Cafe which someone recommended to us at the Ron Jon surf shop for casual seafood on the water. They had good grouper sandwiches.

Mama Quack- I saw lots of teens onboard who looked to be having a great time. We traveled with another family so they were our tablemates. The only night we really dressed up fancy was for Palo. On the other nights I wore sundress, floraly skirt, capris. We barely noticed what others were wearing-my girls wore sundresses and husband did dockers and polo or tropical shirt-we felt comfortable and apropriately dressed.

JJSMama-My girls are 3 and 5 also-we used the clubs a few times-It seemed as if on the 4 day cruise we were so busy with the pool/beach /activities etc during the day and with early dinner seating and 8:30 shows on some days we didn't find time for the club. When they did attend they enjoyed it and I felt very comfortable with having the pager-you can also peek in and check on them if you like. We kept the girls together on the last night for our Palo dinner. The counselors were very accomodating and friendly.

Coleland=I got the AAA rate of 90.00 for the studio

LAMPSKIES - Directions:

From I-95 North/South, take exit 205 (Beachline Expressway Eastbound) to Cape Canaveral. Take the "B" Cruise Terminal, exit left onto George King Boulevard 1.1 miles, right onto Shorewood Drive.

From Orlando Airport, take SR 528 (Beachline Expressway Eastbound) to Cape Canaveral. Proceed as above.

This is from my confirmation for Ron Jon's. Hope this helps you.

What transportation did you use JuliaDan to/from port? Did you have a car or did you take a taxi?

Just a couple of questions about Ron Jon

Did you have to leave a security deposit of $50? and did you get it back at check-out?

Were you allowed to check-in earlier than 4pm or able to use the facilities if the room wasn't ready?

Did you notice at the surf shop if they sold "sea safe"?

Thanks:wave2:
