DH and I spent 12/4-12/10 at WL. It was wonderful! So beautiful, the decorations were amazing and that tree! Words couldn't describe! We got to WL at about noon on Saturday and were able to get into our room right away. We probably spent 10-15 minutes at the check-in. We weren't able to get a king bed so they upgraded us to a courtyard view. We were in room 1160. From our balcony you could see the lake to the left and The Villa's pool to the right. Not the majestic view I had hoped for but it was definately better than a parking lot view!

The room was at the end of a loooong hall and was a pain to get to the first time. But then we realized we could go out the door that lead to the pool and around to refill our mugs so everything was fine.

We had great Mousekeeping, got a towel animal everyday but one. And on that day the Mousekeeper didn't even take the tip we had left for her. Every person we came into contact with at the resort was very helpful and made our trip that much better.

We had a car so didn't use a bus once. We did use the boat transportation a lot and had no complaints. The only time we had full boats was coming back from MVMCP and we had to stand. I was amazed at the number of people they put on the boats though!

We ate at both Whispering Canyon and Trail's End and they were great. We also did HDDR at Fort Wilderness and had a blast!

The day we left, DH set our WL mugs down at the Contemporary gift shop to look at some stuff and walked out without them. We got on the monorail and went to GF and realized they were gone. We went back to CR to see if anyone had turned them in but they hadn't. We stopped back by WL to see if anyone had turned them in there but again, no mugs. But the CM at the check-in counter called and got us 2 more mugs! DH was pretty bummed about not having the mugs to use at home so he was very happy to have them replaced!

If anyone has any questions feel free to ask!

Sounds wonderful. When we were at WDW in Nov we went over to WL to see the decorations. Yes wonderful tree.

So glad you had a nice time at WL. We LOVE the Lodge. (Especially when it's raining and we don't have to get wet to get something to eat. :flower1: )

WL is a really special place. Thanks for sharing your visit highlights with all of us back home.

Thanks for sharing

We will be staying at WL for the first time next month, really looking forward to this trip.

Thanks for the report. Yes the WL is a great place to stay and so glad you had a wonderful time.

The Wilderness Lodge is a GREAT resort... thanks for the trip report, it sounds like you had a great time. I love the Mugs they offer there too.. I have both and use the travel mug in my car... perfect!!

Welcome back.

I am so glad to hear you had such a good experience at the Lodge. We are going back next Friday and I cannot wait.....

We stayed at the Lodge last January...did you happen to see Ranger Stan? He was wonderful. We were fortunate enough to be the Flag Family. This year we are staying at Pop!! I'm looking forward to it, we enjoy staying at different resorts each year!!
:cool1:

Yes, I did see Ranger Stan! Didn't get the chance to talk with him but did see him!

We'll be there this weekend. It's been a long wait. I hope the weather warms up a little bit. Sure, 65 is better than 25 and snow flurries, but, mid 70's would be ideal.

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I will be heading there early Feb for the first time. Did you think that it was noisy? My kids go to bed at 8 and I am a little concerned about that.

So glad yo enjoyed your stay :Pinkbounc We'll be staying there for the first time in April. I can't stand the wait!!!

Taratink- There was no noise AT ALL where we were. But we were no where near Whispering Canyon. Our balcony looked out over the walkway between the lake and The Villas pool. It was very quiet there. Have a wonderful time!

To the OP--I'm glad you had a great trip. However, for those of you reading this thread and trying to decide whether to stay at WL, read my thread "a Miserable Stay at Wilderness Lodge". We just came back yesterday and had a negative experience there. The moderaters closed the thread and will probably pull it. I guess negative points of view can't be posted here on this board. I based my decision to stay at WL on the overwhelming positive comments I read about it on this board. I just wish some negative points of view were allowed as well to give a more balanced opinion.

Negative points of view and reviews are fine and allowed. The post was not closed because you did not like the Wilderness Lodge, nor because you had a bad experience there.

The personal attacks are not allowed (that goes for all of the personal attacks, not just one poster)

The DIS is here for discussions, but favorable and not so favorable, not attacks.

DIS board posting guidelines

Specifically rule #3:
3. NO FIGHTING: Several Internet news groups are marred by the actions of a few selfish people who turn an otherwise positive forum into a soap box for their anger issues. Internet newsgroups are not moderated, and therefore, anything goes. These boards are moderated in an effort to keep the discussions appropriate to the topic at hand. Those who feel they can not abide by these rules are welcome to read the posts on the board, and respond via email to the person who posted the message. Messages that are argumentative or sarcastic in nature will be deleted without discussion.

Its too bad that opinions can't be posted which don't agree with the majority. Just how does my posts "ruin" it for everyone else? Those are my opinions, take it or leave it! I suppose I should take offense because others posted that they had a good time at WL because it doesn't agree with my experience? It makes about as much sense! Actually, I just think that all opinions can and should be posted. A variety of experiences gives others a more balanced point of view from which to make a decision on the choice of accomodations. "This is a HAPPY PLACE for HAPPY Disers!!!" Oh, so NO ONE should EVER post a negative experience because it might not agree with someone else? There's negative opinions all over this board, from everything from hotels, restaurants, rides, shows, you name it. Mine is just one more. Actually, my reasons for posting my negative experiences was to give another viewpoint. I based my decision to stay at WL on the overwhelming positive posts on this board about the resort. I would have appreciated hearing comments to the negative side as well. If excessive noise, cramped rooms, and inadequate transportation don't bother you, then by all means stay at the WL. I just think people have a right to know the good and bad about a resort. Trips such as these are a major investment for most of us and it would be nice to know what you're buying. I guess I've got some nerve!
