DH, DS (5), DS (3) and I just returned from our first trip to WDW (since I was a kid). We stayed 4 days at WL then did the 3-day cruise on the Disney Wonder.
The Wilderness Lodge exceeded my expectations. I was not sure if I would like the theme since I usually like tropical, but it was absolutely beautiful. The feel was cozy, relaxing, casual and magical. My kids loved the lobby and the pool (not too small IMO, just right). My 3-year old is still talking about the geyser. The WL had just the right mix of restaurants. We ate at Roaring Forks every morning which provided a great start to each day. We were upgraded from a standard to courtyard view and had a great view of the stream and flowers.
We usually did not wait more than 2 minutes to board the ferry to Magic Kingdom. The only time we waited was late at night on the return to WL, but never more than 5-10 minutes. My kids enjoyed the boat ride, although it got a little hot and the monorail was more convenient.
The room was not a bad size, but there was not a lot of storage. For the money though it was a great value. Pretty and clean with great views.
Overall, we loved the hotel and the trip. We went on the 3-day Disney Wonder after staying at the WL and later wished we had spent the entire week at the WL. We had such a great time there. The only other hotel that compared IMO for a family was the Polynesian, but I think I will still pick WL for our next trip. We will definitely be back!
To all those staying in the future, do not have any hesitation about your choice. You will love it!
Any questions, feel free to ask!
