Just thought y'all should know...

Visited 1/25-1/30 and found that our counter service credits were pooled. Once I discovered this, I used them to buy adult meals only and had no issues.

The Table Service credits are separated, but the counter service can be used however you want.

I also found that CM's would usually sub an extra side for a dessert, and some would give you a large drink if you asked nicely.

I was surprised to find this loophole, because I thought for sure I would have heard about it on the boards...I'm still new at this... maybe I just got lucky and encountered a string of CM's who charged it wrong.

I did inquire at the front desk at Wilderness Lodge, and the dining 'expert' there said that the CS credits were NOT separated into adult vs. child.

Anyway - this should help some of you stretch your DDP - it allowed us to do a couple of 2TS meals and not have to pay anything OOP b/c we could easily share meals. Three adult CS meals was usually enough to feed my family of 5.

Yep, definitely still pooled and every front-line cast member we ordered from was so kind and helpful. The only CS change I noticed from our last visit was that I couldn't get a side with salad anymore ... tried at Flame Tree and Cosmic Ray's.

Am I to understand this correctly, we are a family of two adults and one child. If the counter service restaurant offers a kid's menu and our son can't find anything on it he wants, I can TRYto order him something off of the adult menu? He's a chicken fingers boy and there are a few places that offer adult chicken finger meals but now kids. Thanks in advance. Lynn

That is not the way it is supposed to work (although I completely agree that if they do not want you to do this they should expand their choices)...I would look ahead of time (before you get into line) and decide how you need to order to best suit you needs. The CMs do have the right to refuse to let you order an adult meal for a child when a child's menu is available...see my post above for a solution to the problem.

They do not separate CS credits...for instance, you have 2 adults one child for 3 days stay...you would have a total of 9 credits...NOW TS credits are separated out so beware...CS meals can be used as described above if you do it carefully.

This is correct. When the DDP first came out the TS credits were also not separated. However, because so many took advantage of this loophole, Disney closed it and separated TS credits between adults and children.

So in the case of our family--there are 5 of us and the CS meals are still too big for us, so we split meals. We can order 2 Adult Meals and 1 child's meal at lunch and 2 Adult for bkfast. We can then split the meals. Since we really only drink water, we should be fine. We can then if we are still hungry add a snack to use snack credits. So, for a day, it might look like this:

Breakfast--2Adult CS, 3 Snacks

Lunch--2 Adult CS, 1 Child CS, 2 snacks

Dinner--Table Service (2 adults, 3 children)

Do I hav this right?

That would work perfectly with the current system, you're understanding it perfectly.

This would be a sample menu, to make sure I have it right, Tricia (party of 5--2 adults, 3 children under 9):

Breakfast at Riverside Mill:
*Adult Breakfast Platter
*Mickey Waffles
*2 Muffins(snack credit)

Lunch at Pinocchio Village Haus:
*2 Chicken Strip Meals
*2 desserts (w/ TS Meal)
*1 Kid's Mac & Cheese and Chocolate pudding

3 Snacks at Main Street Icecream Shop

Diner at Crystal Palace
*any items for all persons off of all of the buffet.

Am I right?

Thanks. That actually fits better into the way we eat then I thought it would. Of course, Disney will certainly close that loophole before long.

If I hadn't seen other posts from you that reflect that you obviously 'get it' I probably would have put that in my post. :)

One thing I don't know about is Mickey Waffles with a snack credit. You can check the stick snack thread at the top of this forum and they'll have the most current snack information for you.

Other than that, looks great (except Pinocchio's would be a CS not a TS meal, but I am guessing that's a typo on your part. You'd get two desserts with your adult CS meals and also desserts for everyone at your TS location, be it a buffet or hard menu sit down restaurant.)

I did make a typo  Too much typing of reports today at work, I guess. The Mickey Waffle is actually a bkfst combo at Riverside Mill (waffles with toppings and choice of meat). Thought 2 of my kids would go for it. (The picky one will ask for us to make her toast, anyway, so that will be oop). Thanks for your help. As always, you are completely knowledgeable and helpful. ;)

this is great information but how does it work if you are on the deluxe dining plan? Anyone know??

I'd imagine that on the dxddp things are a little different. That's a great question! I hope someone who has used the dxddp checks in with the answer!

Are you planning to use many CS meals on dxddp?

Don't be surprised if CS meals are seperate next year, now that the "cat is out of the bag." I had noticed this when I was at the world in January, but did not want to make it public knowledge. As people find out about the "loop holes", Disney will close them. I understand the desire to share info with your DIS friends, but if you annouce these things they won't be around for long.

I agree with you. I posted this earlier in the thread that the same thing happened with the TS's before.

Hopefully this sticks around for a while, I know that I read about this loophole back in 2006 on the Dis.

unfortunately, at a cost of only $10 per night, they will have to sooner or later (unless they raise the price of the plan) :confused3

Anyone know how Deluxe is handled? I'm dying to know. We will be doing 2 sit downs per day and 1 counter service per day on average.
Lesley

In Disney's DDP brochure, the policy is that child credits are used for child meals. Because that is their policy, posting ways to get around their rules is not allowed. This thread is locked and posts advocating ways to get around the rules will be deleted.

Thanks for understanding.
