I returned Friday evening from 5 nights at VWL. I had a studio (2560) which was smoking optional (I requested non-smoking) and I had the dreaded trask can(?) view. When I was told smoking optional was the only studio available for that night but I could change the next night for the $25 fee, I declined. Next thing I knew a CM from out back said they would wave the $25 fee. So I went to my room and it really did not smell bad. Someone did come to the room to spray - it didn't make any difference. The next morning after breakfast I decided to stay put because I wanted to unpack my suitcase and get my things settled and not have to do this when I returned to the new room that evening. And as far as the "bad view" is concerned, it didn't bother me at all. First of all, it was too hot and humid to spend time on the balcony, and secondly, if I looked to the right, the view was great. I could see a good portion of the villas and also a portion of the main lodge. I also did not hear any noise from the trash can area - is it really trash cans - it looked like containers with soiled linens to me. My main complaint was the distance from the elevators, but the exercise was needed. All in all I had a great time - my first solo trip. Any questions, just ask.

Glad you had a good trip and that the "Dreaded Trashcan View" wasn't so bad after all. So, the heat was intense, huh? Looking forward to some heat in a few weeks.

Thanks for posting.

Love the lighthouse picture. Did you take it at OKW? Lighting is great and everything.

Glad you had a good time. Hey, you stole my name....I'm Nana too around here!LOL I love taking my DGD8 to WDW and I have another grand on the way. I'd still love to go solo sometime though...how was it? Did you enjoy yourself or were you wishing they were there?

Jennymouse - congrats on the new grand, we are expecting another one too. We are hoping for a DGD since we now have 4 DGSs. We are all going "home" in October.

Going solo was great. I got to do things that I wouldn't expect others to do with me, like going to member update meetings. But for me 5 nights was definitely long enough to be away from DH and my children and grandchildren. Also, I didn't ride Splash Mountain or Kali River Rapids because it's not much fun getting wet by yourself. But I did ride everything else and I even did E-Ride Night. I did miss having a car. The cab fare to BW for Thursday's member meeting cost me $15 ($12 fare plus $3 tip). I was lucky on Tuesday morning because a staff member at WL gave me a ride to OKW so it only cost me a $5 tip. Also, while the bus service was very good, I prefer driving to MGM, Epcot and AK. But I would never rent a car just for myself. If you have any more questions, I'd be happy to try to answer them
