Just back from VWL!!

We just returned from a 4 night stay at the VWL on Sunday. I have wanted to stay at Wilderness Lodge ever since we visited in '95, but always stayed in the moderates b/c of cost issues. Let me just say that it EXCEEDED my (our) expectations on almost every level!

I know that a lot of people complain that it's too dark, too out-of-the-way, etc,, but these are the things we LOVE about it! It was so quiet, and the walks around the grounds were very romanatic, lit by flickering lanterns. The view of Bay Lake from our room was astonishing, as was the theming. They can have their Contemporary and their GF, the themes are what makes DISNEY RESORTS so special and WL is, in my opinion, one of the best-themed resorts at DW, along with the breath-taking AKL and Poly.

Sounds wonderful. I've always loved the theme there.

I just did an add-on there but my first stay is not until Jan 1, 2002.

And I'm glad to see someone else loves this place as we did! The theming and atmosphere at the WL was awsome!

We never had a problem with the transportation, and didn't think it was out of the way. The service was tops, and the Villas were beautiful!

Can't wait to go back!

We stayed there in early February in a studio and found nothing about the VWL to not like. It was a wonderful experience and to all those that have purchased there sight unseen you will love your decision. It is a credit to the DVC family.

I just booked 4 nights in June (7-11) today!!!
My wife and I are looking forward to a relaxing long weekend at VWL, they look awesome.

I would welcome any room number suggestions,
can you see the Magic Kingdom from any view at the Lodge?

Glad to hear you enjoyed VWL

I have only just signed up there and have only been a DVC'er for - ooooh it's a whole week now! Initially I had planned on trying to pick up on a resale at BWV's however we went to visit VWL and I was totally hooked - we bought in the very next day!

I don't think it's too out of the way and I just *loved* all the wood and the theming. I know there are many debates about what is the best resort. All I can say is there <b>isn't</b> a best resort per se. There is a best resort for ME however - and I think VWL is it. Though I intend to stay at hopefully all the others at some time over the next 40 years

Like you, I would never have stayed there in the past because I couldn't justify the cost. Now I can thanks to DVC. I can't wait - thanks for the info
