Just back from VWL!!

Just got back from VWL. Had a great trip, and weather was v hot.

I loved staying at the lodge again, after a few years of missing it. It used to be my favourite resort before DVC, but I don't think I enjoyed the villas as much as Saratoga Springs.

The main pool at the lodge was permanently mobbed. When I have gone in the past it was much quieter. The quiet pool was nicer, but that also got quite busy, and we found it better to swim before 8.30am.

Roaring Forks has improved a lot since the refurb.

I like the quiet pool better anyway, but we've alway found the main pool to be mobbed.

At the risk of starting another "FW Invasion: Part III" thread, the main pool is indeed often very crowded. We've always gone during the summer and found the pool itself to be big enough, but not enough lounge chairs to go around. We also prefer the quiet pool for the most part.

Thanks for the update on Roaring Fork too.

We just got back ourselves. may 22-30. First time @ WLV. Nice place.

Bobbi - we stayed in a two bedroom villa. BPMorley - we must have been there at the same time. Granny - I always used to hate Roaring Forks, but it seems much nicer now. They have a counter where they mix you a fresh yoghurt in the mornings, and the rest of the day, they mix you fresh salads. Both were very good.

Talking of the pool - in the afternoons, the quiet pool got a little too warm to be comfortable, but we were speaking to a man from Jacksonville, and he said that a pool he uses at home reaches temps of 150 degrees in the summer!

We found that the quiet pool was very cold the first 5/6 days we were there. Then the water became warm, but not extremely warm. We also found the hot tub to not be that hot. Almost like bath water.

BPMorley - I am from the north of England, so any type of heat is intense for me. We have very few outdoor pools here, and the ones we have are ice cold.

The type of thread Granny was referring to were those claiming that WL pool gets busy due to people from Fort Wilderness using it. I have no idea whether this is still happening or not, but the pool was mobbed.

I noticed it being pretty crowded at both pools. Maybe they should build another one. Between BC & BCV they have 2 quiet & SAB. And the YC has a quiet pool. Those quiet pools are bigger than WLV's. The crowds didn't bother us much. We would be out most days and didn't go in the pool til late. Usually just have a couple beers and wind down.

Glad you had a good trip. Our kids usually prefer the quite pool over the main pool, mostly because of the crowds.

We where there the second week of May enjoyed it there, but will take BWV or OKW more. To me except new tables and chairs didn't think RF changed much.
