and we had a great time!

Arrived at orlando Thursday night about 10:30pm - Southwest had us there 30 minutes early - yeah them!! picked up our rental car from Alamo and stayed at a best western in Orlando.... no complaints. Spent Friday morning shopping and managed to snag some great deals. Weather was great!

Got to Vero about 3pm - checked into our 'delux studio' - very small room compared to all the other studio's we've stayed in. Did our grocery stop and came back to unpack.... ds' had some chips and dip and put the dip lid down on a table.... came back to it 5 minutes later and it was crawling with little bugs - then we found bugs all over the baseboards and headed to the front desk as there was no way I was staying in a buggy room. They *said* they were just sugar ants but there was no way I was staying!! They moved us to the main inn where we ended up with a bigger room with 2 queen beds and still had the kitchenette PLUS we got 8 points back!!

We put groceries away and headed out for a walk.... managed to walk down the nice 4-5 foot gentle slope to the beach, fount 2 turtle nests marked off then heading back ended up dashing for the resort as the rain and wind had picked up. We had a while Saturday morning that was windy with scattered showers but otherwise ok. By Lunch time or just before though the wind had picked up to about 60+mph and it poured down sideways. Very scary!! The recreation cast members did a great job keeping everyone busy with extra activities/crafts and such. Forced relaxation was a good thing for us.

Sunday was a bit better - still scattered showers but we managed to shop some more and spend more time in the pool.

Monday was a picture perfect day - did an airboat tour (booked separate with marshbeast) that was very cool.... my boys 17 and 11.5yo really enjoyed it and we saw lots of gators. Then spent the rest of the day hanging out at the beach and in the pool. By this time though that nice gentle slope to the beach was a 10foot strait down wall and the turtle nests had been washed away :sad2: I couldn't believe the number of trees down and damage the wind had done.

Tuesday we had to leave :sad2: but since our flight wasn't until 7pm we hit downtown Disney.

Had dinner at Shutters 2X and both times had great meals. Had lunch one day at the quick service by the pool - basic lunch of burgers/chicken burgers - nothing exciting! I was surprised that there was no quick service open for breakfast and that it closed by 5 every day.

Loved Vero - will definatly be back there again. Was great for a nice relaxing trip and the 4 nights/5 days was just the right amount of time.

We did Vero for a couple of nights last week. We love the place.

It is the one resort where you really relax and wind down. In Orlando, I feel the pressure to visit this and that and go here and there. In Vero, it's not a busy place, so you just focus on relaxing...

Not too big - the kids can easily walk to the various activity places.

Surprisingly (for me), it is my favourite DVC resort. For those looking for a beach vacation, this is a great option!

We did Hilton Head last year and really enjoyed it there too. Loved being able to rent the bikes for the week and the bike ride to the ocean. Not sure which one I prefer but I enjoyed them both.

I haven't found a DVC that I haven't liked yet and only ones we haven't done are BLT, BCV, Hawaii and California (March)
