My partner and I recently returned from four nights in Las Vegas. My partner loves Las Vegas and this was his eighth trip. I used to love it, but then in 2005 I made my first trip to WDW and the Mouse captured my heart. Still, it I find it fun and exciting.
We stayed in a V-Suite at THEhotel, which is part of the Mandalay Bay complex. THEhotel is an upscale, sophisticated property and the room was gorgeous. We had a living room with sofa, chair, desk, wet bar, big plasma TV, and half-bath. The bedroom was nicely decorated in beige and browns and featured a king bed, chair, and plasma TV. The master bath was spacious with a stall shower and deep tub. The room was on the ninth floor and looked out towards the Luxor and corner of Las Vegas Blvd. and Tropicana.
My mother and brother visited too and they stayed in Mandalay Bay proper in a standard room. Their room was very nice as well and I would have no hesitation staying there.
Mandalay Bay in general is a nice property. We had good meals at Rum Jungle and the Bayside Buffet. Raffles offers decent food in a nice setting, but is nothing special. We used the spa at THEhotel and it was nice, but pricey. It was too cold to use the pools outside, but I looked at them and they were very nice.
Another good meal was had at Mirage's Craving's buffet. Excellent selection and quality.
The highlight of the trip was going to Cirque du Soleil's LOVE, a show inspired by the music of the Beatles. It was incredible and a must for any Beatles fan.
During the day we toured the Strip resorts. We saw the Aria hotel and casino that recently opened. Its modern decor did not appeal to me and the casino was quite dark. I also toured the Wynn for the first time and loved it.
