I spent 8 days at WDW and it was great! I even got a chance to see USF and ride the new "Revenge of the Mummy". :scared1:

The new Saratoga Springs Resort looks nice, saw Paul Revere and the Raiders, Wishes is terrific and the Flying Fish Cafe is outstanding.

I wore my lime green ribbon all week, didn't meet up with any DISers but met a lot of nice people along the way.

Welcome back! Did you enjoy the weather? More importantly, did you have fun?! :)

I was there too, last week, but admittedly did not sport any lime green. I'm bad, I know.

We also got to ride the Mummy, I have a HUGE green bruise on my left arm from it. You know when they fling you backwards? Well, my arm wasn't prepared for the jolt. INCREDIBLE ride. DH rode it twice with my DB, but I sat it out due to my throbbing arm. =)

We only did one day in the WDW parks... and it was a marathon!!!!!!! We just hit 3 of the 4.

I think I got a bruise on my right shoulder from that ride. The day after I was so sore and wanted a triple dose of Excedrin. I still rode it twice anyway.

Yes, Steph I had fun! It was oddly a trip I wasn't in the mood for but ended up good.

Welcome back! Glad to hear you had a good time, well despite the bruise.

Is the Mummy ride a rollercoaster? Does it tell a story as it goes along?

Yes Dan, I have a few new recipes. I also got an autograph from the Chef at Flying Fish.

As for the Mummy ride at USF, it's part coaster and part ride vehicle. It reminded me of Dinosaur in many respects but Mummy really moves on a coaster track. The ride has both slow sections and fast dips, often in the dark with flashes of light and smoke. There is a story of sorts and the effects are great.

At the Disney parks they were testing new "Extra Magic" hours in the evening for WDW Resort Guests. They gave us three extra hours after the normal closing hours. Selected attractions were open during that time. It was like E-night in all the parks but for free. I took part in a survey after one of them and told them it was a fantastic idea.

:D Glad you had a great trip. I'm anxious to try the Mummy when we go in December. I usually skip rollercoasters but this one sounds too neat to miss ::yes:: .

We just got back from a "long weekend" in Orlando.

Being Annual Passholders of both Disney & Universal - we stayed for a night at Beach Club (to swim), then went to Royal Pacific to take advantage of the Express Pass.

Yes - The Revenge of the Mummy is awesome!!

However, there are definitely some logistical challenges Universal has to fix just to get on and off the thing quickly.

They do not allow you to even think about taking anything more than a hat with you onto the ride. Everything else better be put in a locker or left with someone or you're not getting on. This leads to the second point.

Maybe the 80 percent learning curve will apply - but until it does - the majority of the general public, (domestic & foreign) is CLUELESS about how to rent lcokers, then subsequently remove items from it.

With using the Express Pass - it literally took more time to put our items in the locker and remove them, than it did to walk in, ride the ride and walk out.

Also, the layout of the lockers, the entrance line and the exit (via a gift show, of course) were always bottle-necked. This was probably because of it being opening week, but I think USO needs to hire some good IE's to fix the problem.

Overall, the ride was awesome. There were a few glitches that were only noticable because we rode it several times in a row. Some of the timing was off - some of the effects were present during one time riding, that were not present the next.

It is intense, but very manageble for kids. I have 3 girls, 12, 10 and 7 and all 3 rode at least 6 times. The middle one won't even get on Splash Mountain......go figure.

I'm new to these boards, but thought I'd chime in.

Thanks!

Thanks for posting all about the Mummy. I am getting excited just reading about it.
