Hubby and I got home from Disney cruise #27 on the Wonder at midnight last night (we got stuck with a late flight, so we went to Discovery Cove on Sunday, but that's another story). We had lots of fun and adventures, but one of the highlights was the brand-new Parrot Cay menu. That restaurant has gone from my least-favorite to my favorite of all! We'll post the menu soon, but the cold avocado soup is my all-time favorite. We ate at Parrot Cay first, and although I had been planning on having the special Thanksgiving dinner, I skipped it in favor of trying the new dishes. Hubby gives a huge thumbs-up to the mixed grill.
Triton's and Animators have changed, too, although not quite as drastically, and Palo is still the same (why mess with success?). It will be hard to decide which restaurant to skip for Palo now...yikes!!

Are they doing the same menu (new Parrot Cay) on the Magic as well? That would be great as Parrot Cay was my least favorite as well.

Hi Barb and welcome back! I am so glad to hear you enjoyed the new menus, I know they are supposed to be starting on the Magic soon and I HOPE they will have them on our 12/7 cruise -- I'm ready for some new dishes! :)

Hope you had a great time! :)

I have been looking forward to you report on your latest cruise. I love how you always find something 'new' to experience with each cruise.

I know that Discovery Cove isn't part of DCL, but could you post about your experience there? I am thinking of taking my daughters there before our September cruise. We had thought about doingthe Dolphin Encounter in Nassau, but I hate to miss out on the activities on the ship--especially since we are only on for 3 days! So I thought maybe if I took them to Discovery Cove first, then we could just enjoy the ship during the cruise.

Thanks! Glad to hear you had a great trip!

Debra, I'll be posting a full Discovery Cove report on my website, but I would DEFINITELY recommend it! The only negative was that the weather was extremely cold (upper sixties), so we had to wear wet suits and spent lots of time shivering! But the park itself is fabulous. Their snorkeling tank is literally packed with fish, and there is a viewing tank of sharks and barracudas (although after meeting Barry the Barracuda at Castaway Cay, I guess that wasn't too exciting for my hubby). There is also a shallow stingray pool, plus a warm swimming area that connects to a lazy river. In addition, there are three aviaries where you can feed the birds...they are all time and will land all over you in flocks. We didn't do the dolphin swim but are definitely planning to do it next time. Everyone who did it seemed to love it. Your price includes everything, including a photo, meal, lockers, and snorkel gear. I'll post the link when I finish the full report.

Welcome back Barb! The only thing I liked at Parrot Cay was the coconut shrimp. Do they still have it? I heard Star Jones from my favorite talk show, the View, (love that show!) today say that she and her sister and family went on the Wonder over Thanksgiving break. She didn't say if it was the 4 day or 3 day. Did you happen to see her? :D Also, did you see the Magic anywhere yesterday when you returned to port?

Welcome back. I'm glad there is no illness on the Wonder.

No coconut shrimp! That sort of surprised me, but I guess it doesn't go with the new "grill" theme. But don't worry, you will find plenty of great items. The crab Newburg is another new favorite of mine.
We saw Star quite a bit, as she was on our dining rotation. I must confess, I never would have know it was her if someone didn't tell me, since I've never seen The View (just the Saturday Night Live parody with Tracy Morgan). She had a lot of family members on board for the holiday.

Oh Barb:bounce: :Pinkbounc

PLEASE post the new menus by Thurs or Fri. We are leaving on Sat. very early in the am and would love to have them to study until our Wonder cruise on the 12th.

I was just curious to know if the Wonder was taking any precautions to prevent germ spreading like the Magic. Did the Captain shake hands at the Castaway club reception? I am always impressed by the # of crew members busy cleaning the ship when we've sailed before...was there more cleaning then usual in public areas this trip? Also curious to know when you're sailing again. Thanks Barb. ps. sorry to hear coconut shrimp are off menu - this was my favorite thing at PC dining room.

Sandee, there were definitely precautions being taken (for example, you cannot take your own food at the buffets...crew members dish it out for you). We felt very confident in the measures that we saw being taken...the whole crew was pitching in to make sure that the ship was even cleaner than usual--and that's pretty difficult for a ship that gets a 99 sanitation rating already!
Steve, it will take a while, as we will probably retype the menus rather than scan them, since they download quicker that way. But I'll try to get hubby to at least scan the one from PC, since it's the drastically changed one. I know lots of people will miss the shrimp (me, too), but I'll be drowning my sorrows in that excellent soup!

Thank YOU very much!!!!

Were you able to get "souvenier" copies of the menus?
I have a small collection and love to read them. It bring me back to the ship, if only in my mind. Hopefully, I will be able to pick one up from each of the restaurants:p :p :p

Steve

PS: PLEASE tell me they still have Creme Brulee on at least one menu:( :( :(

We were on the11/10-14th cruise and was told it was the first days for the new menus. We loved the Sea Bass, the Prime Rib, Lobster Bisque, Steak with a white Lasagna. The mixed grill Barb talked about I tried and the only thing outstanding on it in my opinion was the shrimp. Red Lobster quality scampi style, I could of eaten a whole plate of those. They really pushed the Celebration cake for dessert. It was suppose to be a cheesecake with strawberries and chocolate and something else. It was very good but there was just a little piece of inedible chocolate on the plate.

Barb, Sounds great, can't wait to try the new menu.
Can you also post a new Holiday Navagator for the 3
day?
Thanks a bunch
Bonnie

hey there Barb!..
glad to hear you enjoyed discovery cove....they definitely run a great operation...

as for the menus....i hope they still have the steamed sea bass at tritons...
my son thought he'd died and gone to heaven....in fact, the head server brought it to him all 3 nights of the cruise (we ate at tritons the first night - then he ordered it again on the other nights)...

THANK YOU BOTH SO MUCH

You are great:p :p :p :p :p :p

Wow, my mouth is watering just from reading that menu. I can't wait. Thanks so much for keeping us "in the know." :)

Oh how I hope they have changed it on the Magic too. I guess I will find out in a couple of days :)

I'm really hoping they left the coconut shrimp on the magic!!! :) I've been building that up and will be so disappointed if it isn't there... :(

Oh well... not going to ruin my trip.

Wow, I don't think I could pick just one thing to eat on that menu! It also seems like they've gone to a four course format (offering more choices in salads and soups and making that its own course) rather than the 3 course format before.

I think i just gained 10 lbs reading that menu!
