We just got back from a great 8 night stay at the pop. I was a little nervous about staying there because I have read sooo many mixed reviews. We have only stayed in moderates before.
Overall impression was great. If you are not a fan of the icons you just overlook them and it's fine. The pop is very clean/manicured property.
Our room was the 50's 3rd bldg facing the bowling pin pool. Yes, the pool is supposed to be closed at midnight but people do stay in it much later. We did hear some noise but not terrible. It did not keep us up. We were exhausted from a long day at the parks. We did have neighbors and did not hear any noise from them. THe room was an ok size for the 4 of us. It is a little smaller than the moderates but not much to notice. THe only thing that we did noitice is that there is only 1 sink opposed to 2 at the moderates. That is not a big deal though. This is funny-one our last night there, we were just falling asleep and heard someone trying to get into our room. The key was going in and out. My dh and I jumped up and was looking thru the peephole. A woman was standing here. She finally started to knock on the door. My dh opened it and boy was she surprised. She wanted the door next door. Don't know how she messed up since we were on the end and the doors facing in the the totally wrong direction. We noticed she was a little tipsy, ok maybe a lot.
Buses- There were terrific. As soon as we got to the stop one pulled up. We never waited longer than 5 minutes. On late night at the mk, when we arrived at the bus stop, the line was crazy long. We were like never again. We had to wait for 9 buses to come before we got on. I guess since the line was so long they doubled up on buses and 2 would pull in together. We only waited 20 minutes. It was great.
Food court had a great selection.
Pools were clean. Kids had a ball.
We would definitely stay there again. If you have any questions I will be happy to answer them.

Thank you for this review. My dh and I are staying there (requested 70's bldg) in January and the mixed reviews are driving me crazy. I understand a lot of families with children stay at the value resorts but it will just be the two of us. Do you think we will still enjoy it?

It sounds like you had a great time. We stayed at a moderate last time and it was really nice, but this sounds more colorful and more like disney to me, plus it's cheaper! As long as it's clean and safe and the food is good, we don't concern ourselves with all the amenities, although some are good, but we can live without alot of them. Besides, we don't spend much time at the resort anyway.

another question....Does the room have a safe?

Thank you again.

We'll also be staying at Pop again in January, from the 12th - 23rd. This will be our third time staying there and I must say we love it. It was just DW and I the first two times but this time we are taking our two nieces with us. If you're like us and spend most of your time in the parks you'll have a great time, however if you're looking for all the amenities Pop is not the place. It's a basic room with a very good food court and pools. All the rooms have etra large safes that will hold a lap top. Maybe we'll see you there, I've also requested the 70's building. Maine :firefight

Thanks so much, we arrive tomorrow and I am really looking forward to staying at POP.

How was the food court in the mornings, was it very crazy say around 7:30-8:00am do you know??

It will be crazy then try around 7:00 and go from there. It might not start getting to bad until 7:30. Maine :firefight

7:30 - 8 didn't looks so bad, but around 9 am it was very crazy. The earlier the better, I would say.

We just came back from POP, I don't think the room has a safe, but I'm not sure. I wanted to let you know, since it's just the two of you, the room we had would be perfect for a couple wanting a little peace and quiet. We were in the 50s section, 1st floor, overlooking the lake, room #3129. It was extremely quiet!!!!! And had a very romantic setting. They had benches where you could sit that overlooked the lake. ;)

We were in room 1372. There are safes in the room. They are in the room where you would hang up your clothes near the sink. There is also a iron, ironing board and blowdryer.
Every morning mousekeeping did a great job straightening up our room, giving us new towels, soaps and shampoo.
On the morning we went to the food court it was about 9:30. It was very crowded. We waited on a little line but it moved. There was plenty of seating.
We would go to the food court later in the evening and it was not crowded.

Thanks for your review, I am glad you had a good stay!...we are going Sept 12-19th for our first-ever trip as a family and my kids wanted POP because of the Icons, while I would have preferred Boardwalk (I am a snob, I guess!). It is my son's Bday while we are there, so I am going to decorate the room, etc and hope we have a great time. We've saved for years for this trip, so I can't wait!!!

Thanks for the review!

We got a fridge in the room because DS likes to have milk before bed and DH and I will like to have cold sodas, bottled water, and stuff like that in our room. Can you buy a gallon or 1/2 gallon of milk at the food court? Can you buy cans or bottles of soda, too? We won't have a car, so if the food court doesn't have these things, I'll have to do a grocery order service.

I do not remember seeing 1/2 gl milk. Only those little pints and nesquick chocolate/strawberry milk. They only sold 20 ounce coke/sprite/iced tea. We ordered 2 cases of water from staples 3 business days before we arrived. When we checked in the water arrived 5 minutes later. It was very easy and would recommend doing that. That is if you want water.

I liked POP ok when we went last year, a little to icon-ish for me, but overall a great resort. Very clean and well kept (but aren't all disney resorts!). My only complaint was the lenghthy walk from room to bus stop, but the bus service was excellent, so much in fact it made up for the walk. They were always on time, and in the mornings the CM's were great about letting kids call for the buses and they had them at the stop almost one after another to get us out to the parks. Pop really has the bus system down to a fine art.

yes, they do have hairdryers. They even keep replacing small shampoo bottles. If I would of known that I would not of brought my own. We took some back so the kids would get a kick out of it in a week or so.

That's my only concern about POP. Which building were you in? I need a room close to the bus stops. I'd like it to be close to the pool and food court, too, but I'm mostly concerned about the bus stop. I requested a preferred room, but I was going to cancel it to save the money and take my chances. Now I think I'll be on the safe side and keep the preferred room.

Thanks for the review, we will be staying at the POP this year for our Dec trip. We arrive Christmas day staying for 6 days!!! I am very excited to be staying there because of all the Icons and stuff and its looks so colorful and fun but also had some concerns with the mixed reviews, We want a nice quiet room away from the Hustle & Bustle of the pool!!!

Glad you had a great stay Christine. We loved our stay at Pop this summer and had a room facing the bowling pin pool also!

We stayed at Pop back in May. It was definitely nicer than the AS resorts. I do recall that the food court at Pop had some awful lines in the mornings and evenings. We actually wound up going off property to get supper a couple of nights. It was very clean; good bus service; no excessive noise. I would stay there again, but probably plan to not buy any food there.

Another question....Is there a coffee maker in the room? Previous reports have said no but when I called Pop to inquire I was told an upgrade had recently been completed and all rooms now had coffee makers. What's the word? Thanks.
