Been there Done that Going Back !!! this is now our resort of choice.

I'll write more soon please post any questions you have and I will do my best to answer them

Glad to hear you had a great time. We are staying there in April as part of our land and sea package. I called Fri and requested a view of the lagoon and MK from our room, any insider tips for me? It will be me, DH and DD (9). Can't hardly wait!!! ::MickeyMo

Another Polynesian convert!

Did you notice any construction in the lobby or back by Captain Cook's?

As you entered there was constuction inside the lobby on the left hand side and right outside the doors beside News from Polynsia gift shop.

Any idea what they are doing? Everything was kept behind the walls and very quite

Tikiman had reported that the shops were to be be moved to the front and Captain Cook's was to be expanded. Sounds like that is moving along.

When we were there in October, the shop across from Captain Cook was walled off. Someone told me that was to be new washrooms. Did you notice any new ones back there or an expansion of Captain Cook's?

Thank you for the answers. You're the third person I've asked and first to answer...I appreciate it!

We are going in May for our first ever family trip. The Poly came highly recommended and we can not wait. What longhouses do you suggest we request?

Welcome home. I bet you can't wait to return! :) I just asked this question of another person who just returned from the Poly, but I'll ask you too. Did you notice if they were still doing work on the outside of Tokelau? We stayed in Tokelau for the 1st time in Dec. and loved our room. We have just planned an unexpected return to WDW after finding great flights and a last minute AP rate at the Polynesian. I cannot wait! We have never, ever done anything like this before, and it's just me and my husb going this time! Would love to be in Tokelau again, if things are quiet there.

The only work to Tokelau was painting around the doors to the stairs on both ends of the third floor. Past that everything was great there, On the last 2 or 3 nights there was a problem with the main doors and they were left open instead of needing the room key to open them.

There was Bathrooms across from Capt. Cooks so maybe they are new, I am not sure on that.

As far as what room or building go to Tikimans site

http://tikiman2001.homestead.com/

His site is great from it we picked Tokelau longhouse and requested rooms 3913, 3912, 3911 in that order. We got 3913 look out Balcont a little to the right and had a beatiful view of the GF leaned out a little (not much) and looked right and could see the castle in the MK. Water pagent went by everynight I could not think of a better room without paying for a lagoon view.

PS Got a card and a 5x7 of pooh and the gang all autographed by the characters and a balloon in our room for our anniversary on our second nite.
Really nice touch

Hope this helps

Thanks again!

Welcome back, glad it went well, as you can see by my countdown, we are getting close!! I can't wait, it too will be our anniversary. Now my question, Did you request your room when you made your reservation or by fax? Both? I am just curious as to what worked. Also, we were considering ground floor, but is third floor that much better? In your opinion do you think we will be as happy on the ground floor vs. a higher up view from 2rd floor?
Another question, by any chance did you do the Luau? If not did you hear any one talk about it? I have heard such negatives here, but was wondering if anyone heard anything else. Thanks for the info!! :worship:

Rarotonga! It's right next to the GCH. If you can't get that try Niue it's pretty close also. I'm going in May also and staying at the Poly too! My family loved our first visit to WDW when we stayed at the Poly and I hope you will to! Good luck and have a great time. pirate:

DH and I stayed at The Polynesian for a short weekend. We loved the resort and had a great time.

Our favorite will always be the Wilderness Lodge. But, we still have lots of resorts to try out.

I requested it thru central reservations then confirmed it about 3 weeks out.
About 5 days before we went I called the Poly and confirmed again.

For me I would not stay in a first floor room. I like being able to leave the curtain and or door open and we had nothing to hide being with my 6 yr old but I just don't like the feeling of people being able to look into my room if walking by.

That is a big advantage for me staying in a deluxe compared to the other hotels, inside corridors instead of outside walk ways by all the widnows.

Hope this helps out

thanks goofydad, I am so torn. I was leaning to 1st floor dreaming of stepping out of our sliding doors and walking to the pool. I am also concerned about our 2 yr old and her climbing abilities. Although we are always keeping a watchful eye, things happen. (like today she stuffed a small battery up her nose! :rotfl2: ) We had a very eventful and busy day today as you can imagine! I am hesitant on asking for a specific room/longhouse because I wonder if it is safer to be more flexible? My biggest fear is parking lot view and yes there are a few of those! :rotfl:
I know the following: we want to be close to the volcano pool (3 kids-9,5 and 2), non smoking and because of my darling princess: maybe ground floor.... :rotfl2: I have looked and relooked at Tikiman's site, and I am just getting myself in a quandry (is that really a word...well if fits!) :confused3
So thanks for all the help/opinions, any further help/opinions is always appreciated....getting close :cheer2: :Pinkbounc :goodvibes :cool1: :bounce:
