Stayed at the Poly May 24th - 31st. It was wonderful as usual. I was sad to see that the parrots in the lobby were "moved to Animal Kingdom. It was too noisy in here for them." I always enjoyed them at check-in. We stayed as far away from everything as they could stick us----Rapa Nuie and I have to say there is no bad location at the Poly. (We had requested Samoa.)
I did not think the walk was too far and we had the bonus of being so close to the TTC to catch the monorail there! The room was spacious and seemed clean. No towel animals:( but we survived. We ate a meal at 'Ohana and it was great! The pool was packed over Memorial weekend and was dead the rest of the week. I heard that the Poly was near capacity over Memorial weekend and then dropped to 60% capacity by Tuesday. I don't know if that is a rumor or not, but that's what it felt like. Yes, I had a drink or two at the lounge. I even tried a Lapu Lapu, but I preferred the Tradewinds drink:D Ducks were out in full force. Any questions???

I have to totally agree with Justicegang about the busses. I have never had such terrible bus service before! We were stuck at Blizzzard Beach for 45 Minutes!!!!! With three small kids!!!!! We saw at least 2 busses go by for about every other resort plus Animal Kingdom and EPCOT. I really wanted to go to DD this trip but I didn't because I was afraid of the time it would take to get there and get back to the hotel!! We are definately complaining about this one. I talked to guest services and they said to call 407 WDW-ride. FYI. They sure have cut down bus service since 9/11:(

Glad you had a great time! I'm really considering switching our reservation from POR to Poly in late August. If I book a garden view room (not concierge), what kind of views are available??

This is our first time at the Poly, in less than 2 weeks, and we can not WAIT!!!!

I can't wait to go on the beach...

Horner5...any garden view room will be good. You have views of the grounds which are well landscaped. If you are staying without kids you will probably not want your gardenview room to look out over the monorail....so if you request that I'm sure they'll accomodate you. We enjoyed our balcony this trip. You may want to request a balcony. It just felt like I could see more and also felt private. We stayed on a ground level garden view room last trip and I now know we prefer to be on a higher floor. Have fun!

Garner....I am soooo jealous!!! I hope you love your trip. I took my 13 month old to a hammock on the beach to rest together one afternoon....aahhh, heaven. The Poly also has porch swings on the beach. Very relaxing. :D

Welcome back and thanks for the report. Glad you had a good time. I always rent a car so I stopped taking the busses a few years ago. We had the same problem over at the AKL last summer. We waited for the bus from the Animal Kingdom and from DTD and we saw 4 Polynesian busses before ours. We heard great things about the AKL busses so we took them but we have to remember the busses being bad is not the fault of the Resort so I am not sure why Justicegang would have a bad report on the Polynesian resort because of busses and as far as not getting their exact request well I can’t say I would have complained but everyone has their opinion.

Glad you still enjoyed your trip even though you were not put in the building you requested.

Did you get any photos of your room view?

Aloha

Steve

Hi Tikiman! I thought of you while I drank my lapu lapu at the Tambu lounge. We stayed in room 2126 Rapa Nuie. It was at the end of the hall. I have to check on the photo...I know we got a good shot of the room itself and maybe one of the view. It was a standard view and I enjoyed having a balcony. Rapa Nuie rooms seemed bigger than Tokelau's rooms. I don't think they had been refurbished though. If I get a photo, I'll post it. I miss it already. I knew immediately we were further away than we had planned, but we liked Rapa Nuie. I truly don't think you can get a bad room there for our family.:D

So you could still remember me after a Lapu Lapu? That is a good room right on the corner closest to Tahiti facing Tahiti. I don’t think Rapa Nui rooms are bad at all but I don’t think I would want to be on the parking lot side. It is nice to have the parking lot close if you bring your own car. Must be nice to walk right out the side and onto the path to the TTC. The rooms were refurbished in 2001 but they will not go through the rehab the older buildings did because there is no need in the later construction to fix the foundations. The room is not larger but it may seem that way with the different bathroom layout. I hope you did get a view shot. It would be great to add it to the Rapa Nui page.

Aloha
