Just returned and I am so exhausted!!!!! I will post a whole trip report with pictures soon, but here's pretty much it:

We were in Samoa, room 2602-great location by both pools, boat dock, and GCH. Short walk to TTC, but in the morning it's cool and quick.

Saw EWP and Wishes two nights from the beach.

Took boats, monorails-rode upfront-no problems at all.

Took out a pontoon boat for an hour- a must do from now on!!!!

Lava Flows are the best!!!! I had about seven.

Kona is amazing!!!!

Three million kids (it seemed like)-everyone under two in Disney is here

Good mousekeeping-no animals

DS LOVED Neverland Club

Overall-we really liked it , but I have to say it's probably our least favorite of the deluxes we've tried-WL, AKL, and BC

It's very laid back and loud-I want a little more "stuffiness" in a $354 a night room. We visited the GF for dinner at Narcoosee's (YUM) and it's more our style. We will definitely return here , though, but I want one of those Hawaii concierge rooms facing the castle.

It's a great resort for families and I highly recommend it.

I have to add that we were in a room facing the volcano pool and right opposite the elevator (great location). Our humidifier (remember my thread a few weeks ago?) came in very handy and we had four great nights of absolute peaceful sleep!!!!

Telly, if you are reading this-I think your kids will love it as mine did. Bring a blanket to watch fireworks from the beach as it can get chilly, especially if the kids are playing in pool beforehand....

Oh no, now you made my decision hard! I am trying to decide between the Poly and CR for my birthday next year. Was your building far from the monorail? Why do you like the BC better? I had considered that resort, but am concernced about the busses stoping at multiple resorts. I'm sure I will change my mind about which resort I want a million times before next October! :tilt:

Hello! I just booked Samoa because one site said it was a completely non smoking building. Then in another area it said Samoa was smoking optional! Having just been at Samoa, do you know the answer?

No mouse animal towels? Does that mean there is no hope in August?

Was it incredibly noisy between the two pools?

Thank you!
Kate

Yes, you do have a ways to go!!!!! Our building was close to the monorail and the boat service was very nice. We stayed at the BC, but really prefer the YC (even though we haven't actually stayed there yet). We just really liked the look and feel of it when we visited there. Epcot is also our favorite park, so the location of the YC/BC can't be beat for that. There are also more dining options in that area. CR doesn't do much for me, but when the rooms are renovated, count me in!We really did like the Poly overall....

We were in a non-smoking room. I am not sure about smoking optional, but did not see any rooms that did not have smoke-free room on it. Not at all noisy, but I did have my humidifier going, whcih makes a nice, low humming sound which is good to keep away those "sudden noises" that keep you awake.

Susy- I was wondering if you used the Magical Express sevice. If so, how long did it take to get to the poly on the Disney Shuttle from the airport? Which number stop is it...the first or last of the MK resorts. What about your return trip to the airport? We will be there in August and I am still debating whether or not to use the service. First reports have stated that it takes 3 or more hours to receive luggage after landing in Orlando. I hope this improves by August as they get the bugs out of the new service. Marilyn

You can request Samoa but you cannot book it. They try to honor requests but don't count on it. Samoa is a smoke-free building but we have still had people smoking in the room next to us! It kept coming through our bathroom in almost a cloud! I've been to the Poly 6 times in the last 3 years and I have only gotten towel animals once and that was in the Raratonga building. There was no noise between the two pools in Samoa. It is our favorite building and one which we will continue to request on our next trips.

Don't have your heart set on Samoa as it is only a request. If non-smoking is your big item, I make that the most prominent on your confirmation sheet. Good luck with your requests and I'm sure you'll have fun at the Poly. By the way, we've stayed in the conc. bldg many, many times but have never received a towel animal so don't be upset if you don't either. Threehearts

Marilyn-We just used Magical Express to go to the Poly this past weekend. It took about an hour from deplaning to arrival at the Poly. Out bus went to the Cont. first and then the Poly. The GF was to be the last stop. I saw my luggage arrive at Bell services as I was walking into the building. We checked in and had lunch at Kona. The luggage was in our room by the time we finished lunch. DH used ME later that night and he thought it went great. Pick up at the resort to return to MCO also went well.

Sounds like you had a great trip! We were in Samoa 2607 2 weeks ago and loved the location! We enjoyed the view from the room and hardly heard any noise. I am very sensitive to smoke and I did not smell any smoke in the building.

Going next year with young kids and the time it takes to get to parks is our priority. It sounds like Poly is the one for this. MK by monorail. Quick walk to ttc and then monorail to Epcot. What about MGM and AK? Did you take buses from Poly? How long did it take approximately? How many other places shared the bus?

Thanks for the humidifier tip. We have a white noise maker (smaller than a humidifier). I wouldn't have thought to bring it. Now I will!

We didn't take buses, but you can't go wrong with either the boat or monorail.

Samoa was a smoking optional building before its renovation a few years back. Since then, it's all non-smoking.

Does that mean you didn't go anywhere except MK and Epcot? Or did you have a car. I thought it required a bus to go anywhere else.

sixcats- thanks for your response! This is exactly what I needed to know. I think we will go ahead and go with the service. It sounds like the kinks are getting worked out and we won't be there until August. Thanks again. Marilyn :flower:
