Hi everyone!

We got home about an hour ago after a VERY long day of traveling!!!

I will, of course, be writing up a long report, but just wanted to say that in our own personal experience, DCL went above and beyond, with what happened during our cruise.

I'm sure that most of our fellow cruisers aren't even home yet. I hope they ALL make it home safely!

In the meantime, any questions, feel free to ask!

**SCROLL DOWN TO SEE PART 1, Part 2 on page 2, and Part 3 on Page 3, OF MY REPORT** :)

Glad you guys are home safe and glad you enjoyed the adventure of your cruise. We're all looking forward to your trip reports.

Glad you made it back safely. Glad DCL went above and beyond in your eyes. Not everyone feels like that. Can't wait to hear about your voyage!

Welcome Home!!!

Just to think, we missed that 10 day cruise by one week!!!

Looking forward to hearing more about your trip!!! :wave2:

Dear SeaSpray,

Bummer to hear you have returned. Was hoping that your ship wouldn't find its way back. Next time, please make sure you book a Cruise to Nowhere and forget your way home.

ROFL!!! :hyper:

Love Always,

Your Favorite Niece ;)

I am going to write this report in a section-by-section format, as opposed to day by day. I can’t remember specifically what we did each day, so I’ll give my overall opinions, instead.

The fact that our cruise turned into Disney’s first ever 10 day cruise:
Our experience was excellent. Given the circumstances, I don’t think that there was anything else that the Captain could’ve done. I always felt that our safety was a priority. We were excited when we heard that we’d be onboard an additional 2 days. This notice was given a couple of days in advance, so it wasn’t a shock at all. When we found out that we’d be docking at Port Everglades, which is 3 hours away from Orlando, it was cause for concern because then we had to figure out the logistics of getting to our 11:25am flight. Once we realized that we’d never make that flight, we called Song Airline ourselves, the night before while docked in Port Everglades, and got the last 4 seats on the 7pm flight. We knew this meant a long wait at the airport, but we decided to do this rather than spend a night at WDW and have to fly out the next day. DCL provided complimentary transportation from Port Everglades to the Airport. According to the written information we received in our stateroom, they would’ve given us complimentary accommodations at one of the WDW resorts if we had to wait till Wednesday to fly home.

The day we docked in Galveston, Texas, DCL brought a new performing act on board. It was called “Rhythm Extreme” and was sort of a “Stomp” type of show. It was interesting, and I thought it was good of DCL to bring on a new show just to entertain us another night. To us, it seemed that DCL was really trying to keep the guests happy. We did not encounter a single CM on the ship who wasn’t happy and trying their best to help the passengers in any way possible.

Ok, that’s all for now, as far as the extended trip goes. I may add more later if I think of something else.

Now for the regular cruise info!

Our stateroom:
We were in cabin #6042, which is a category 6 cabin, and has a private verandah. Before the cruise we didn’t know whether, or how much, we’d use a verandah. I have to say that literally as soon as we walked out to the verandah, we looked at each other and I screamed “This was SOOOOO worth it!!!” Indeed, the extra money we spent on a verandah proved to be quite an investment for us, especially considering the extra days we’d spend on the ship. We used the verandah often. DH would wake up early before the rest of us and he’d go out there and enjoy the morning scenery. Every morning when I woke up we’d go back out there and talk, rehash the day before, and plan what we’d do that day. I think I can say with 100% accuracy that we never entered our cabin without stopping out on the verandah each time. I won’t say that I’d never sail again without a verandah, but I will say that the additional price, at least for us, was EXTREMELY worth it!!!
The most special moment on the verandah: Monday night when we were docked at Port Everglades, DH and I were out there talking on the cell phone, when in the distance I saw another cruise ship approaching. From the distance I was able to make out 2 tiny red smoke stacks at the top of the ship. As it slowly sailed closer and closer to the dock, I yelled to DH “I think that’s the WONDER!!!!!!!!!!!” We grabbed our cameras so we could zoom in on it, and YES IT WAS THE WONDER!!! We ran upstairs to deck 10 and were able to video tape the Wonder as it approached the Magic. It was a once in a lifetime moment; you could hear the guests on the Wonder yelling over to us, and we’d yell back at them!! There were hundreds and hundreds of guests on the decks of each ship. I cannot wait till we replay our video and get to see this over again. While DH was video taping this, I was snapping away with the still camera. Eventually I will have pictures of this all, on my web site.

Now, as for the cabin itself, it proved to be quite adequate for the 4 of us. At home, DSs each have their own bedroom, DH has a private office, and I have my own desk area, off of the family room, so we are all used to having our own spaces. It took about a day or so, but eventually we all settled into a good routine and weren’t bumping into each other. LOL I split the desk area for DSs to share; I took the steamer trunk, and DH used the drawers area over by the bathroom for himself. We each had our own space, although limited. LOL It helped for us to each have a place to enter the cabin and be able to set down our sunglasses, Keys to the World card, etc.
The beds were comfortable, but we had to stash our luggage under them. They were way too big to fit into the closet. I had read here on the boards that you can lift up the beds and slide the suitcases underneath, which is what we did. We did a rather sloppy job of it, but when we returned to our cabin that night, our room steward had fixed it all for us.

This leads me to our room steward, Darwin. He did a wonderful job keeping our cabin clean, and our champagne on ice. Every single time I passed him in the hall he’d ask me if everything was OK, and if I needed anything or not. I never needed anything from him, so I’d thank him and go on my way. He was good, he did his job and wasn’t too noticeable. We did stop and chat once in a while, but usually when we’d see him we were off to someplace specific and didn’t have much time to talk.

This is all I have time for now! Soon I will sit down and talk about restaurants and our servers!!

SeaSpray,

Thanks for sharing. I would have given anything to see the Wonder cruising in to meet the Magic. I Wonder if there has ever been a time when they were in port together? Hmm. YOu may have witnessed DCL history.

How did DCL handle the dinner rotation? Were you able to make additional Palo ressies?

Can't wait for additional reports.

Welcome Back!! I loved reading your report (Part 1) especially about seeing the Wonder. What an incredible moment.

So glad you had a great time on your extended "mystery" cruise and I too appreciate your positive attitude about everything.

I'm looking forward to the rest of your report and to seeing your pictures of the Wonder and of pre-hurricane Castaway Cay. Still waiting to hear how our favorite island fared :worried:

We had "Rythum Extreme" on our 8-21 cruise, I thought they were fantastic. Those kids sure had a lot of energy, I got tired just watching them perform.

Enjoying your report!!!

It really was one of those "magical moments" you hear about, to watch the Wonder approach the Magic and to hear the cheering from both ships :sunny:

We just continued with our regular dining rotation. We had the APL rotation, so this is what ours ended up being: APLAPLAPLA, then breakfast at Animator's yesterday morning. We were able to make additional Palo and spa reservations, if you wanted to. Since we had already done dinner, brunch, and tea at Palo, we didn't return there during the extra days. But we did make an additional reservation for pedicures. We did the couples' massage which was part of the Romantic Escape at Sea package, then added the pedicures for Saturday, when we found out we'd be onboard for a few extra days. The massage (we did the Spa taster) and the pedicures were wonderful! DH has diabetes, so it was nice for him to have a professional foot massage as part of the pedicure. :)

By the way, we had Gemma as our server for Palo dinner and brunch and she is WONDERFUL!! We put her name down on the comment card at the end of the cruise, where they asked if any of the CMs were exceptional. :)

Hi,
I just got back yesterday as well, my husband got off the ship in Texas and flew home on Saturday, so he was able to get us on a flight out of Ft. Lauderdale yesterday at 12:30.
From the sound of this thread it seems like some people are complaining on other threads. Well I think I won't read them because Disney did an unbelievable job in a bad situation. I can't imagine them doing anything else or any better than they did. If I had to complain it would be that I spent three more days of money I was not planning on, but hey it was three extra days of a cruise. I was glad to get off the ship, but I will be glad to get back on it again for our next cruise.
:earsboy:

I can't wait to see the rest of your report. WE were next door in 6044 for our July cruise. It was wonderful.
