Just returned from a week at the Fort in our new tt....The Fort was as we remembered...Beautiful, clean, and the cast members wonderful....But in the words of my 7 year old son "Where did all of our camping buddies go??" Most of the "camping buddies" we encountered were NOT campers...They were rude, pushing kids out of the way to see the fireworks on the beach, adults pushing kids out of the way at the campfire to roast their own s'mores, and loud partying with golf carts racing around after midnight...We gave up on the buses, because it was disturbing to watch young men allow older women to stand, while my little guys offered their seats, etc. We are really in no rush to go back to what used to be our favorite place on earth! And, our camper became infested with ANTS!!! Thank you to the campers that every once in a while would offer a smile or a hello, or compliment my kids on their manners, you made our week!

I can see where your coming from, but I don't understand how little things like that ruins the Fort... Other people attitudes and actions shouldn't change your opinion or mood of the Fort.

Sorry you had a bad experience. Hopefully I have a better time next week when I'm there. And I'm 99.99% sure I will... Wether it's rude people or bad weather

I think it's not the Fort that was a disappointment but a much larger problem in society generally. As a senior citizen I "strap hang" on buses and very rarely have anyone offer a sear - and when someone does it's usually an older man who needs the seat more than I do! Can't let it spoil my time at WDW - still a magical place. Those golf carts are a menace sometimes; we just take our time and walk and try to stay out of their way.

I think it doesn't matter where you stay - the Fort or disney hotel - you are going to encounter people like this. Unfortunately, it's the world we live in. You did say you met and were in contact with nice people too. It's just life. I wouldn't let a handful of people discourage me from going someplace I enjoy.

We had ants for the first time when we were there for Spring Break in April. Apparently they were bad this year for everyone.

As for the bad guys... if the good guys stay away, the bad guys will be able to take over. We need an infestation of good guys to crowd out the baddies.

I believe there are quite a few good guys there, but the actions of the baddies stand out so much in the Happy Place.

Enjoy your visits and realize some people weren't raised right. :confused3

Not hijacking your post at all, but I can not find it and I know Bama Ed reads everything. I remember reading something from you about what you do to try and help the ants not get in. What is it again that you sprinkle around?

Hey Ed, what's that white powder around your wheels, posts, and pads?

Hope this works from my tablet. See the picture of my popup in post 47 from my recent trip report (the last picture in that post) then the discussion in posts 55 & 56. Sorry this happened to amberlynn.

Ps - doing the ant powder is part of our routine setup when we camp....

Oops - Double post

We didnt have a problem with ants during our last trip, but our neighbor had squirrels chew through the propane line hooked up to their grill.

From what they said the lines are soy based material and the squirrels eat them. They say the front desk people were not surprised one bit when they notified them of what happened so that they could warn others.
