Dh, DS and I just returned from a quick weekend trip to SSR. This was our first DVC stay (we purchased BWV in September 2003).
Overall, we really enjoyed our trip. We had a 1BR unit, room 2141. The extra space compared to a standard WDW hotel room was great! Having the kitchen and a full size fridge was nice too...espicially with a 2 year old who still takes a two hour nap every afternoon. We were on the ground floor, right next to the qiuet pool and playground area...DS loved it! The grounds were lovely and the staff very accomodating. The food offerings at Artist's Palatte were varied enough so you don't "have" to head over to Pleasure Island if you want a quick bite to eat (and you don't want to cook yourself
) I look forward to seeing more of the construction completed.
I have to say that the worst part of our stay was Saturday night. The fireworks at Pleasure Island go off at midnight. We slept through them on Friday night. Saturday night was another story. I truly believe the barge from which the fireworks are lit was right next to SSR in the canal! It sounded like we were in the middle of an air bombing compaign! We could not believe how awful it was. The walls were shaking and the glass slider in the LR was vibrating. Thank goodness it didn't last too long....but after that experience I will look forward to trying out some other DVC resorts!
If anyone has any questions about or stay, just let me know!
