Just Back from SOG - Any Questions?

I really hope you have a great time with no problems, like I said we never have.

We had great cleaning service and they did empty our coffee every day for us. My daughter was able to get a new card at the front desk when her key stopped working mysteriously. MY husband the sponsor was not there with her either, She did have to show ID. (Not ID card but something to prove she was who she said she was)

Do you think you just got unlucky or did they do government cut backs or something? We was there back in august of this year.
We even had friendly (English )speaking Maids in the hallway. My husband commented he was getting tired of saying Hi in return when they said hi to him (He was teasing about that, he meant it in the spirit he has never met so many happy people)

Our housekeeping was late in the day too. That was hard since we had two small children so we opted to only get clean towels one of the 5 nights we was there , then the day of the hurricane thats all they did was give out clean towels.

When we checked in it was a man and he was so nice. You can defenetly tell he was ex military because he had the manerisms (you know yes maam, very polite and straight forward) We made small talk about what branch he was in, He checked in one room that was done and had us come back for the second room that wasnt ready then.

I do remmebr longer lines at the ticket office. We never used package delivery but a sponsor picking it up especially with diabled. Thats crazy. Hopefully GSM that was a rare thing someone made a mistake on. I would compain about that with the management for sure. My husband too cant do standing in lines and I do all that sort of work for us. Hes a "Disabled" vet.

Barbday 62 - I am so very glad you had a good experience with your stay. And I hope everyone does in the future. I was very disappointed as I great expectations from my phone contacts with reservations and guest services/ticket sales.

Perhaps our error was planning a trip during the golf classic. (which we were unaware of due to not being golfers). Maybe that is the reason we received less then good service. The only problem with that is isn't there always something going on at Disney?

We were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary so we were surprised with deliveries from Disney Florist and other places. My husband pre-ordered flowers for me and said he never would have done it, if he had known he would have to go down to the front desk himself and balance them on his scooter to get them back to the room as a surprise. For some reason, SOG has not empowered their Bell Services to do deliveries. Again, you must go to the front desk and sign a ledger and pick up your delivery.

I am sure SOG has some things to work out with just opening in March of this year. However, we did hear several people complaining about lines, elevators not working, lack of parking (again possibly due to golf classic) and housekeeping.

I will be watching the boards to hopefully see improvement.

Would you recommend switching from SOG to POFQ mid-trip?

We have SOG booked 12/19-12/22 and POFQ booked 12/22-12/24. I have reservations about switching hotels mid-trip but will do it if it's worth it. POFQ can accomadate us the whole time but SOG can only do the first 4 nights of our trip.

Suggestions???

Just curious:
does anyone know if the rooms in the old section were recently renovated? I thought I had read somewhere in the past that they were, but now am uncertain. Thanks.

I'm always a proponent of going to a few WDW resorts per trip. Go for it!!! We're going to SoG for the first 5 days of our next trip and then on up to the AKL. :hyper:

We liked POFQ quite a bit when we went. Of all the moderates, I'd say that is the one we would return to. (haven't tried CSR yet though)

We stayed in the old section in May and it didn't look like they renovated those rooms. The rooms still looked very nice though and we really enjoyed our visit! No problems with SOG at all.

:wave2:
