We were at SOG during Charley and I can hopefully help with a few of the questions. We got home 3 weeks ago tomorrow.
Yes there is a store. It has some souveniers and snacks. I saw a lot of water some pop, some milk. A lot of different chips, some things like chicken in a can with some crackers and mayo fir a quick eat, a few types of cereal. The souveniers included some clothing, toys knick nacks. It was quite small.
How was housekeeping?
We had a great maid. She did a great job but we was the end of the line so it was late in the day before she got to us. I do not remmeber getting any animals made from wash cloths like other disney resorts do. We had to pass on housekeeping a couple times because she wasnt there when we came back for a nap for the kids and Grandpa (MY hubby always takes a nap lol) Then Friday the day of the Hurricane they didnt have housekeeping but they brought us towels. We did order an extra pillow the second day and it was brought promptly but they wouldnt take a tip for it. But when we ordered extra towels on Friday of the hurricane (We had a baby and 2 1/2 year old with us so we had to go through lots of towels) and you can tell they was looking for a tip which I gave because in my book to get us 7 extra towels just before the hurricane was above and beyond. I suspect that wasnt even a houskeeping person but a front desk volunteer.
Did you walk to the Poly to use the monorail?
Yes I did a couple times. You walk along the entrance street about 5 minute walk and then you cross the street at a crosswalk. But I have to warn you they dont stop for people waiting for a crosswalk down there. Then you weave through another path that was very lush in landscape and plants. It came out near the water at the rear of the polo and then we cut through, went up the stairs to the monorail. It was a total of 10 to 15 minutes to do all that. There is a guy who will take you to the end of the driveway if you happen to be there when he is. We noticed him going back and forth all day long. You sit in a large golf cart. That saves the first 5 monutes of walking because he lets you off at the crosswalk.
Where do you access it from? Is it closer from the new section or the old section?
We walked out the front door then turned right and started on the path. I would say its the new section because the front desk seems to be in the new section from what I can tell. The frint is in the middle of the resort so I guess it depends on where you room is for if its closer to where.
Did you enjoy your stay there?
We loved this resort. If it were near Beach Club it would be our only choice to stay at. The price is so right and no taxes means much more savings and the room was huge. Because my husband and I rarely go to MK we dont like the location as well. This trip we had our grandkids with so we did MK a lot and it was the best for us this time. We ate at the all you can eat Prime rib and it was so good. I dont eat prime rib but my husband does and he said it was really good. They had enough food to fit anyones taste so I was happy too een though I didnt try the prime rib.
