I just returned from a 7 night stay at the shades.
I stayed in the old wing- room 377. It was closer to the pool( which we didnt use) and evergreens. The layout of the old section hasn't changed at all. The only difference is the new added lobby and wing/ and parking garage.
The lobby is beautiful, as is the landscaping.
The buses are horrible! The bus to the TTC (busA) was ok, it runs every 15 min starting at 8 am. The bus to MGM (bus B) was a long ride. It takes almost 40 minutes to get to MGM! It leaves the shades every 1/2 hr, and goes first to AK, then to Blizzard beach, and then to MGM. There is NO bus to take you to typhoon lagoon or downtown disney! If you want to go to downtown disney you have to take the bus to TTC and then get on a fort wilderness bus, then once you get to fort wilderness lodge, transfer on their bus to get to downtown disney! It was horrible, and long. We either called a cab (about 14.00) or just started walking to the Poly and using their buses. The walk is about 10-15 min depending on how you walk, but from 11-6 there is a guy driving a golf cart back and forth called the shady shuttle. He will take you from the lobby to the end of the walkway. He saves a lot of time if you can catch him, or he isn't full. We would start walking, and usually catch him somewhere along the way. I was very disappointed with the buses, and because of that, I don't think I would stay at the shades again. There just isnt any disney magic, but you can't beat the price of the room.
I don't know if manginos was open. Room service menu's are now on the tv screen, as is the menu from evergreens. There was some kind of internet, but it was expensive, and we didnt use it. The aafes store is pretty much the same, just bigger.
If anyone has any questions, I'll try and answer, just let me know.

Thanks for the post about Shades of Green. We were originally going to stay there but we got the Contemporary for $149. It sound like the $49 extra we would be paying is worth it to have Disney Buses, Boats and Monorail. (We mostly go to MK and Epcot)

We will probabyl try the SOG next year after some of the kinks are worked out.

tHANKS, WE ARE HEADED THERE ON THE 22ND. SPENDING 4 DAYS AT SOG AND 4 AT CR. CAN'T WAIT!:Pinkbounc
