My DH just got back from our first trip without the kids :goodvibes . Here are my opinions.

1. Pepper Market is fun, but as you've heard fairly expensive. This wasn't a problem for us without the kids, but I'll be glad to be on the DDP when we take them in Sept.! The food was much better than at other resort food courts we've experienced - and it was cooked to order - not pre-made.

2. We got our building request and loved the renovated room. It was very adult. My DH is concerned that the kids won't like it - and admittedly, there's not much Disney in the room. The room was extremely clean and the bed was very comfortable - better than POR, POP and ASMo.

3. Mousekeeping was outstanding. We got a thank you note for the tip along with towel animals. They were also extremely friendly. We were very surprised at how efficient and outgoing they were.

4. The pool is exceptional here. You can spend all day at the pool and have everything you need. We re-filled our mugs at the pool, had nice big frozen drinks, had nice naps, etc. The pool was very well heated and even in temps. of 73-78, it was mostly comfortable. (although the hot tub was very appreciated after a dip in the pool ;) ). The hot tub is very hot and very big. It never felt crowded.

5. The buses were mostly good - especially at the parks back to the resort. We never waited longer than 10 minutes. Our only problem was the DTD bus. We waited about 25 mins. for pick-up from the resort and then the driver took some crazy convuluted route. It took us over 1/2 hour to get there! The way back took about 8 minutes! We were on all kinds of back roads going over. We're not sure if he was lost or if he was trying to avoid a wreck. Guess we'll never know :confused3 . We were late for our RR adr, but it didn't matter - just made me a little nervous. We were also disappointed with the pick-up at DTD. We waited a LONG time. I finally asked another bus driver to call it in, but a bus showed up at that point.

I did wonder how the buses are coordinated. When we were waiting for the DTD bus at 6 p.m. (prime time for DTD, right?), 3 Epcot buses in a row shoed up. The last two were right beside each other and one left empty. In the morning two DTD buses left empty while some people were waiting a while for a MK bus. It seemed a little unorganized.

But still, after bad experiences at POR, the buses here were much better :) .

6. Overall, I loved our CSR experience and hope to go back in Sept.

Welcome back, Skater. Thanks for your review. What section did you end up in? :goodvibes

We ended up in Cabanas 9b. It was nice to be so close to everything although not as important as it would be if we had the kids.

We've stayed Castias every one of our seven trips. I think we may try and shake it up this year and try for the Cabanas. :goodvibes

Just missed you by a few days! I'll be getting there on Thursday! Glad you had another great trip!

Do you think the pools were really kid friendly? We are currently booked at POP but are upgrading to a MOD & love the new refurbed rooms at CSR but think the pool would be better for our DD2 at CBR. Any opinions?

Did you check the pool picture thread for the Dig Site under the resort pictures? There is a great kiddie pool and a playground as well at CSR. I can't comment on the CBR pool as we've never been.

Definately check out the pictures :goodvibes .

This brings me to another point I wanted to make. My DH and I are split on whether we should bring the kids to CSR in Sept. He thinks its not "disney" enough. He likes the traditional food court with loads of soda machines so the kids can mess around filling up their cups with awful mixes they concoct :rotfl: . He thinks the kids will not like the less colorful rooms. I guess he feels its too adult for them.

My argument is that the service, quality, and cleanliness is much more like the Disney I used to know. After having such a bad experience with mousekeeping, the food court and the buses last Sept. at POR, I just can't stomach the thought of going anywhere else (we can't afford a deluxe). I couldn't get that Disney feeling anyway at POR due to our problems (I will say their pool and landscaping are beautiful). And I think our kids will appreciate the great pool area and convenient buses (they are old enough to know the difference between good and bad bus service).

I'm not sure what we'll decide as a family (although I think I might get my way ;) ), but I hope that our musings might help others who are considering this resort for their own family.

We're one of those families who don't need Disney in our face 24/7 as you get at the values. The one and only time we stayed at the All-Star Sports we all hated it--kids included. Our kids always loved the CSR (even more than the Poly & CR). Now, I don't know how old your kids are, but I think you are right that they will enjoy the pool and possibly the volleyball court as well. With the exception of the new rooms at the CBR (Nemo and Pirates), I don't think any of the moderates or deluxes really "SHOUT" Disney--but that is just me.

I'm sure Mom will get her way--who does all the planning anyway? :rotfl2:

Thanks for sharing! We visited CSR in Dec. and also had 9B. I had always like POR but CSR beats it hands down!

Skater-glad you had a great stay at CSR!! Just some observations on kids & the pool. From what we've seen, the lifeguards keep the kids pretty entertained at the CSR pool. They have planned activities & games, and we've also seen them making crafts poolside. They've had a lot of the same lifeguards there every trip, and it seems like they do a great job getting the kids involved. If you are there at pool opening, they also have a fun ceremony when they turn on the water.

Thanks!

I really liked the lifeguards - I didn't see them doing activities but one in particular was engaging and fun with the kids. He did the same with adults with one funny (potentially diastrous result). He was trying to get two men to do cannonballs and one decided to dive into the pool :scared1: . When he came up, the lifeguard said, "What was that!?! Can't you read?!!" My husband and I were cracking up (secretly). It was a little scary before we knew he was OK (it was somewhat shallow where he dove). But the lifeguard's reaction was great - he was very gregarious and the kind of guy who can get away with the comments he made. We were thinking my 11 year old would love his personality.

So glad to hear you had a wonderful trip!!! I wish I had an upcoming trip to wish my year away for. LOL

Thanks for your review. Ive stayed at CSR 5 times now and am addicted. I dream of walking the grounds there and taking a nap on a hammock which I did a few times this past trip. Ive been home a week and a half and it feels like an eternity already! Can't wait for my August trip back "home".

Glad you loved CSR as much as we did---We also had issues at POR.
