just back from Riverside (Bayou) - any qstns?

When we were there during President's Week we always went to South Depot. There were never more than a handful of people getting on with us early in the morning. Late morning it was much busier (as was the food court). We never had any problems getting on a bus from the resort and we were there at a very busy time.

We figured that the mansions would be lovely, but not unlike other nice hotel rooms. So we chose AB for the different rustic them and the trundle. It's really just the bed frames that are rustic and the bedspreads have a quilted theme - that makes it comfortable and gives it character.

We stayed in building #27 on the top floor. We stayed there the 1st week of Feb. 2005. This was our 1st stay and the place was great and no complaints what so ever. The housekeeping was great for the first 3 days and then we must of got a new maid. She wasn't so good and one day we got back and the towels were still in the bath tub dirty. I just called the front desk and asked for new towels because we had just gotten back and the kids wanted to go swimming. Within 10 minutes the guy was at our door with a handfull of towels in tow. The food court was good. I found it no different then ASM. We enjoyed the two sinks also with our family of 5.

Yes they do have ceiling fans in the rooms

I will be staying there at the end of April. It's my first time at a moderate. Can anyone tell me if they provide pool towels at the pool or do I have to bring my own?

Also, I have no idea what the parking is like there. How far is the parking from the vatious sections of the hotel. I'm not so interseted in the food court or busses, but I don't want to walk a mile to get to my car. This will help me decide which buildings to request. Thanks.

We take towels from our room to use at the pool. We always request extra towels for this. We usually only use the quiet pools, the main pool may have towels, I have never checked. Anyone?
As for parking, it is fairly close....if your room is a water or garden view, expect to walk a little farther from car to room.

Diane =0)

I think I read somewhere that there are towels at the main pool only. I hope so. And parking is VERY close to the buildings. If you want a parking lot view, just ask for one, as that is one request you will easily get, as we always have. I always request odd things, like close to the laundry!

I'm glad to hear people have stayed in Bldg 27 and liked it!!! We have stayed in Bldg 18 both times we were there. GREAT bldg, but I want to try another one!!! Am I weird or WHAT!?!? Bldg 27 looks like all rooms would have a GREAT view!!

We went to POR in early march. I had requested building 27 but it was not ready when we checked in. Was offered room 1620 which is a first floor room in building 16. 16 was awesome. So quiet!!! and close to everything.

It even had a little pool somewhat near. Only problem with that when we went it was too cold to use as it wasn't heated. Woul've been even better.

Yes, they have pool towels at the main pool. However, they ran out several times while we were there during President's Week. We took them from our room one time so we wouldn't get down there and have no towels again. Then we had new ones delivered to our room while we were in the pool. When you get to the pool ask a lifeguard and they'll tell you when they expect more towels to arrive.

Our first time at POR coming in May....How was the food court??? :confused3

The food court was good. They have the best rib dinner which includes corn muffin, mashed potatoes (with gravy) and choice of collard greens, baked beans or veggie. $9.99. The same area has a nice caesar salad and taco salad with choice of beef or chicken. The pizza's are good and not too pricey at all. They have good tasting cheeseburgers as well as pasta entries. The chicken alfredo was tasty! Also, the meat ball sub was delicious. As you can see, we ate here most of the time. Nice portions too.

As for the refrigerators, yes, they should hold your supply of milk. You may have to take a shelf out though for the height. Keep in mind, the refrigerators are not apartment size. They are probably only 30" to 34" high.

How many windows do the rooms have? I saw a picture on another website and it had 2 windows one on each wall. Are these the corner rooms? I wanted to get a top floor room with the windows. We are going June 1, should I call POR directly and request this? If so when should I call? Thanks!

Hi Sadie :wave2:

The corner rooms have 2 large windows while the others have only 1. Plenty of sunlight to come through though. You can call anytime and make your request, but there is never a guarantee. They say on this board that if you fax your request 4 days before, you stand a better chance of getting what you want. I called 4 times with requests and upon checking in, still didn't initially get what I requested. Disney did make the corrections though. Have fun! :cheer2:

I have only seen older pictures of POR. Does anyone have pictures of the rooms since they were remodeled? What all was done to the rooms? How are they different now? Thanks. :)

Hi MagicalMom, :wave2:
I'm afraid I don't quite know yet how to load my pictures. :badpc: :teeth:
I can tell you that the remodeled rooms have new linens including shower curtains, comforters, larger size room towels, refrigerators and coffee makers. The mansions have a curtain divider between the bedroom and the sink area so that the early risers can get ready and let the others still catch those zzzzzzzz's. :sunny:

Anyone know if the rooms in AB have the privacy curtains as well? That was the main reason we almost stayed at CBR but in the end didn't. It sure would make it nice for me to not have to worry about waking dd too early. And the last time we were there it wasn't an option in any bldg.

We stayed at POR AB last year and they did not have the privacy curtains. From what I've read on this board, they only have the curtains in the mansions. :)

Our room in AB did have the privacy curtains between the sink area and the beds. It was great to have for changing.

We were just there in November and our AB rooms ALL had the privacy curtains! If I still had those pictures I could show you. They were nice!

That's great news! When we were there last year they didn't have them. It must have been part of the refurbishment. I'm glad to hear that and thanks for the info.... :flower:

We are leaving Saturday (4/2) for POR. Re: faxing in requests, can someone tell me where to fax? Also, does the 4 days include the day you are checking in (so should I fax Tues or Wed this week)? Do I just list my requests (#1 priority is being in a non-smoking building as I have a severely asthmatic child).

Also, am thinking of requesting Magnolia Terrace in the mansions section -- what do you think? Am traveling with DH, DD (5), DS (7), and my parents, and am thinking my parents would probably prefer the mansions. We would like to be fairly close to the main area (food court/pool/bus stop).

Thanks for any help.
