Hey everyone,

I have just returned from Port Orleans Riverside for a long weekend. We really enjoyed the resort. The whole trip was great. This is my first time at a moderate in many years. I was very impressed with the bus service. It was much better than the deluxes we usually stay at. I was very concerned about bus service. We have stayed at AKL and the WL before. While neither one had bad service they were not as excellent as Riverside. Transportation is one of the main reasons that we usually stick to the monorail resorts. This trip we decided to save a lot of money and try a moderate. While I still prefer the convenience of strolling the strollers on the monorail over folding them on the bus, I can't complain about what we experienced this weekend. We never waited more than five minutes and usually didn't wait that long. The busses were never crowded and we had very friendly bus drivers.

The rest of the resort was wonderful too. The entertainment in the lounge was excellent as well as the food in the restaurant. I had an incredible salmon dish that was the special with an awsome sauce. I wish I had gotten the recipe.

The rooms were clean and very nicely decorated. The beds were comfortable and the overal atmosphere was very nice and relaxing. The cast members were also very helpful and nice.

If anyone has any other questions I would be happy to try and answer them.

Happy to hear you had a nice stay at POR. We'll be there in July. Can't wait! Did you request a specific section to stay in and what building were you in?

Thanks :sunny:

We didn't request anything special except to be close to some friends that were joining us. They were able to give us adjoining rooms in the Acadian House. It was very quite.

Glad to hear you had a great trip. We stayed in Acadian House when we were there.

Part of me keeps wondering if I should have changed us from POR to WL, but the DH said he wanted to try something different this time.

Glad you had a nice trip! I can't wait to go in July! :Pinkbounc It's wonderful to read all the positive reports for POR :)

Hi Minnie:

Glad you had a nice trip.
What part of riverside were you in, also do you know if you had one of the renovated rooms. I think the renovated rooms now have a curtain separating the sink area from the bed area?

Deb.

I am interested in finding out if the renovated rooms have the divider curtain also. I like having the curtain, it helps save time in the am.
Thanks

Glad to hear you had a good stay. We have also stayed at AK and Wl in the past and have decided to stay at POR this time. Just wanted to check about the fridges in the rooms.

Thanks

My Mom & I are deciding where to stay for our November get-away. We haven't booked a room yet...How is POR & POFQ? In all the pics it looks so charming. Can anyone give me some pros/cons. We have stayed on the property many times...just not here.

Thank you so much! :goodvibes

thank you for the report minnie my my. We are staying at POR in june. can't wait.

It's great to hear you had a good trip.

We plan to stay in the Acadia House for our Honeymoon. I've heard by some people that this was a good choice and by others that we should have stayed in POFQ. :confused3

What do you think? ... We are first time Disney-goers, so we have no idea what toexpect about anything!!

Thanks!! ;)

Minnie My My, How close is Acadia to pool and food court? Is this one of the closer mansions? Did you use any amenities like boats or carriages? Happy to hear of another pleasant stay at PO.

I just returned for POR and we had a renovated room. They have the curtain divider just like CSR. They also had new bedspreads and curtains. Also had a small fridge and coffee-maker. The vanity area was newly tiled with slate tiles and a decorative border and granite. It was very nice. My building # was 34 in AB. I was very happy with the room. I have another reservation in March for CSR but I think I will call to see if I can change to POR.

We had Room 8030 in Acadian House. By "excellent entertainment in the lounge", you must mean Bob "The Piano Man" Jackson! He's the best!

Popeyohoh: Our room in Acadian House was one of the furthest Mansion points from the main buildings; it was right next to the AB. It was about a 4-5 minute walk to the pool for us and a couple more minutes to the main buildings. The boat to POFQ and DTD is free but the carriages are not; they are $30/30 minutes. Here's a link to a map of POR:

Glad to hear you had a great trip.

We stayed in Oak Manor 3 years ago. This sounds like it may have been renovated since then. Very short walk to the food court, etc. Our kids loved walking over the bridge everyday. Our room was on the 1st floor and right off of the small pool and laundry. This was very convenient for us. Our kids didn't swim in the main pool much at all. I liked that I could do laundry while the kids swam. (yes, I am one of those crazy people that actually does laundry on vacation!)
