We just returned late last night from POR. We have stayed here previously. We stayed in bldg 27 in AB, we had stayed in 15 before and I requested it but when we checked in bldgs 14, 15 were being painted. I liked 27, close to food court and main pool but a little further walk to the main bus stop. When we walked in our room , the door hinge blew off and fell to the floor (they did come and fix it that same day). Our toilet made a terrible screeching sound too. I really love this resort but I am looking forward to staying after they update the rooms. They are showing alot of wear. The maid service was the worst we have ever had (it was not terrible, just not what we have come to expect). She made the beds, left 2 towels (even though, there are 5 of us) and some Mickey supplies. The bathroom was dirty (around the base of the toilet), the tub had dark rings. Overall, we would stay here again, it is so pretty to walk around the grounds and I thought the food court was great (good choices, fresh fruit/veggies).

We are going to be staying there Thanksgiving. Where would you recommed staying? In which buildings, as far as rehab goes?

And what should I be prepaird for during rehab? Was it noisy?

They were painting bldgs 14 and 15 and if the CM at check in would not have mentioned it, we would not have known. I don't think they are actually refurbishing POR at this time. French quarter has been closed and when you take the boat ride to DTD, they point that out to you. There was not any noise at all, it is so peaceful and pretty. I personally like bldg 14/15 the best, but bldg 27 was very nice (and I would not have a problem staying in that bldg again). Hope this helps and have a wonderful time.

Last week we stayed at Parterre Place #9542 (courtyard "view") and also noticed the extreme need for rehab. Our room reeked of smoke (in a non-smoking bldg) which we luckily got rid of with linen spray and the shower had mold. I did not think housekeeping was as good as it could have been. The base of our toilet was also dirty. We had 3 people in our room yet they still only had 4 towels and ONE bar of soap.
Sorry, but I laughed out loud at the door hinge story!
Don't mean to gripe about the hotel, CM's were great, bus transportation was really good, food court was fine. It really is a nice resort.
We stayed there in 2000 in Alligator bayou and I think I liked those rooms better, but it also didn't need work back then.

We will be there in a few weeks and I was wondering whether you got the impression that buildings 14 and 15 would be open again soon (like in the next few weeks LOL)? Building 15 is my favorite! Thanks for the review, we love POR!

Yes, we will be there in about a week and a half too and I've requested bldg 15 or 16. Are they painting the inside or outside? It would be nice to have a newly painted room. :D

Actually, bldgs 14/15 were open before we even left to come home. I'm assuming they were painting the outside (as we were told that the insides would not have any work done for a while) but we never saw anyone working!! I was going to ask to be moved but DH doesnt like to change rooms after we are settled. And, bldg 27 really grew on me after a couple days.
