Hi everyone! Just got back Sunday from a short, last-minute all-girls trip - 2/21 - 2/24. We stayed at POR - Alligator Bayou Room 3723. I'll have to say I was nervous about the mousekeeping/cleanliness issues that I have been reading about lately, but I'm happy to report that our room was IMMACULATE! Mousekeeping did a great job the entire stay. Check-in was a breeze - I waited less than 15 seconds. No issues not so ever. The grounds were lovely. CM's were absolutely fantastically Disney-esque. I was impressed.

The only complaint I have is with Boatwrights. My DH and I usually stay at a Deluxe resort and we often drive to POR just to eat breakfast and/or dinner at Boatwrights. The food wasn't as good as in the past. I ordered prime rib and three cheese has browns dish - the prime rib was mediocre at best. Not a very good cut - TONS of fat. The potatoes were overcooked. I also had a spinach salad and that was delicious. Loved the cornbread as well. My mom and aunt ordered the filet, and although I didn't try a piece for myself, it didn't look too special. In fact, they called it "mediocre at best" as well.

And Breakfast - it wasn't as good as I recall. The Sweet Potato cakes weren't as fluffy - in fact they were quite thin and greasy! I wasn't impressed with the food at all.

We did see Piano Bob - had a GREAT TIME. Loved the boat launch to DTD. I'm going to do my very best to write a trip report (once time allows).

Any questions??????????

Glad you had a great time! How long was your walk to the food court, boat launching area, Disney buses, etc. from your room? We're staying at POR Alligator Bayou) for a week in June. Thanks!!

We stayed at POR in Sept and noticed the same thing about the food. However, we noticed it all over the property too. It seems like they are standardizing all the food or something. On our first morning, we had breakfast at Boatwrights. He ordered the stuffed french toast. It was very good - he let me have a bite. Well the next morning we had a much anticipated breakfast ADR at Kona Cafe so I could have the much-hyped Tonga Toast. Imagine my surprise when I realized it was the SAME MEAL my DH had gotten the previous morning at Boatwrights!! :lmao:
I didn't really have a meal all week that week that blew me away. :confused3

The walk is lovely - it was between 5 and 10 minutes. We were in Building 37 which appeared to be one of the furtherest away.

We just returned today as well. We were in building 1844 from 2/19-2/26. Had a great time and loved the resort.

We had a great mousekeeper for the first 5 days - but then it was obvious that we had a different person for the last 2. The room wasn't as clean - and one day the trash was never even emptied  !

But the building (18) was a perfect location. Close to the foodcourt, lobby and bus stop - yet far enough away that it was quiet.

Any other questions, let me know! We can't wait to return.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one. I thought perhaps I had just become super picky. HOWEVER, I did have one meal that blew me away. It was at Raglan Road. I had the Shepherd's Pie and for dessert the Dunbrody's kiss ( a chocolate delight!). My aunt had the fish and chips which she loved and my mom had their special which was a filet with whiskey peppercorn sauce, mashed potatoes and asparagus. She absolutely went BEZERK over her meal.

We had dinner at San Angel as well - very good! Had lunch at Seasons - wasn't overly impressed at all with that.

:cloud9: Ah, Riverside!!!! Last time we were there last April, we had breakfast a couple times at Boatwrights, and I had the Eggs Benedict both times, it was great!! I hear around the boards though that as of late, Boatwrights has been hit or miss lately.....whatever, I'd rather have an "ok" meal in WDW than a fabulous dinner here in NY.......any day!!!!:goodvibes

You're right about that! I'd dine there again if I could go back. :thumbsup2

It was definitely a "miss" for us this time. Didn't like the eggs at all. They were kind of runny (scrambled). I don't like them overcooked by any means. The bacon was HORRIBLE - scraggely little pieces - so thin they didn't require chewing. Just kind of disintegrated in your mouth. The coffee was pretty good - and the french toast rolled in cinnamon and sugar was very good. Other than that - yuk!

Riverside was LOVELY!! It is definitely our favorite moderate - Boatwrights aside.

Runny scrambled eggs are the absolute worst!:crazy2: I couldn't gag them down if I tried! Did you try and send you meal back?

As far as the dining goes..I loved the stuffed french toast!!!

And I agree with the mousekeeping talent..! Our room was SPOTLESS throughout our stay!!! We were in AB building 27!

Thanks for the review. I can't believe that we did not even get to try Boatwrights on either one of our trips. I can't wait to try it now. I can't wait to try the stuffed french toast!

Stayed at POR Nov 07', still love it. We had a room in bldg 28, not sure we loved the location but we were able to get connecting rooms, which was our 2nd request after AB. It sure was quite back there, and we were close to the pool. We enjoyed the sweet potato pancakes one morning, not sure if I noticed a difference, maybe it was just your chef that morning? Had good mousekeeping and bus service throughout our stay. Used a cab one night to get back from our late night trip to Poly for drinks.;)
My last trip, this month, was to CBR, we drove over to POR to try the pasta station. It was so good, I was very happy with my meal. I shared the shrimp pasta with my DD, we couldn't even finish it. Funny when I stayed there I never ate in the food court, but managed to get back when I was somewhere else. We stopped at WL counter service prior to going to POR, much better selection at POR. Easy to park too.

POR is still my favorite moderate, followed very closely by POFQ.

Personally I'm a big fan of the food court. We did Boatwright's last year (on the DDP) and considered it to be average. This year, again on the DDP, we utilized our quick service meals several times at the food court for breakfast or lunches and found it to be a great value, especially comparing it to Boatwrights.

If I'm looking for a good dinner, I'm not sure that Boatwrights makes my shortlist...

Hey there - no, I didn't send it back. Probably should have! I think I'm spoiled when it comes to eggs because we have our own chickens (just 2!) and of course eggs from the grocery store or restaurants pale in comparison. Our chickens are free range, no hormones, no artificial light. Just eggs the way nature intended. Delicious! I thought perhaps I was just being an egg snob. But, they were a bit undercooked. Nonetheless, the taste was BLAHHHH....

Again, we LOVED the resort!! Absolutely magical!

I'll do a trip report soon.

Im a big fan of their food court too. There were a LOT of options to choose from in my opinion. Im not all that bowled over by the choices at POFQ... where Im staying in May. Keeping my fingers crossed it's not as slim pickin's as it seems...:goodvibes

Your name sounds familiar in that we've posted in threads together -- are your 2 favorite resorts BC and Poly? If so, this is such a coincidence because guess where we're staying in April? POR! We decided to get AP's again and in April (late spring breaks for some people....) the pickings were slim to get AP discounts. So far I have reserved a split stay with POR and WL. Not thrilled about splitting, though. Anyway, I have a few questions. Can we roll a double jogger onto the boat to DTD do you think? Or do you think we'll have to fold it up. Also, how did the mansions look? Magnolia Bend, Oak Manor, etc. My parents are meeting us at POR for a few nights and I'm thinking the mansions would be nice for them. Thanks!
:)

Hi, We stayed at POR 2 years ago and took the boat to DTD several times. With the double stroller, it really depends on how crowded it is. If not many people than you can just stroll right on and park in the wider area used by wheelchairs and scooters if crowded they will probably ask you to fold it up.

I think I remember your name as well. yes, my 2 favs are the Poly and BC. I didn't see anyone gget on the boat without folding up the strollers, but it was quite crowded. We were in alligator bayou but I did walk around the resort a lot. It's such a beautiful place! The mansions look stately and beautiful but I think I prefer the landscaping and rustic feel of alligatory bayou. Can't comment on the rooms because I've never stayed in the mansions

It's beautiful there - if ever I need to stay at a moderate, this is the resort for me!
