Hey everyone!

My DBF and I just returned (last night) from POR and we loved it! The grounds were so beautiful and lush. We were in room 1463 in the Alligator Bayou section. Bus service was always quick, and the boat to DTD was so relaxing and romantic.

Building 14 was a great location - close to the food court (although we never ate there) and both the quiet pool and Ol' Man Island. And yet, it still felt secluded and "tucked away."

We were surprised at the abundance of wildlife at the resort. We saw ducks, with their little baby duckings (sooo cute), turtles and rabbits. One duck even came and swam with us in the quiet pool. It was pretty funny... :rotfl:

Housekeeping was sufficient...everything was cleaned well but we never got any towel animals...maybe because we were two adults there with no kids? Anyway, it didn't bother us, but I still would have been excited to see one.

If anyone has any questions I'd be happy to answer them.

Glad to hear that you had a great stay at POR. We will be there in roughly 5 weeks. It will be our first stay and we are getting excited. It sounds as though you didn't have any bus problems.

We returned from POR two weeks ago today. We also loved it, agree about feeling "tucked away". We found the bus service to be excellent, we ended up using it more than we usually do because it didn't feel like as much of a hassle. Also, the secluded, covered bus stops were so nice! We didn't get any towel animals either, we have gotten them before at ASMO and Pop, but it was 98% booked when we were there so they were probably just too busy, maybe next time! Welcome home to you, personally, I still feel sad and just missing WDW so much!

We were there May 10May6 in Room 1426. Great location, quiet, yet easily accessible to foodcourt, pools, marina, and bus stop.

We did not get towel animals, either. I have to admit, I was a little disappointed. The first night, we needed a 5th towel for 3rd dc, and each a.m., we had 5 in our room. They did pay attention to other details, so I can not complain.

We stayed at POR over Spring Break and we got towel displays with my kids' growing number of stuffed animals in cute arrangements using towels. Only one animal...a towel Easter Bunny in a towel Easter basket..so cute. I think it's the luck of the draw. We found our Mousekeeper and thanked her and tipped her personally. One night (her night off) we didn't have any displays. I made it clear to my kids that you don't always get that kind of fun thing, that it's someone being extra nice. The resort must have been pretty full at that time, although it never ever seemed hectic. Maybe try bldg 16 and spread stuffed animals around the room and hope for some pixie dust ;)
Thanks for the great Mousekeeping to Zenia, a young lady from Puerto Rico, who left the displays day after day without a tip until the day before we left. She clearly wasn't doing it for the money, she said she knows the kids come back to the room tired and it was nice for them to have something fun to come back to.

Did you go to the campfire at POR? How long of a walk is the bus stop from Building 14? How about the the POFQ pool? We'll be there 8/28 to 9/3 with little ones, so any answer you can provide would be appreciated. Thanks for your report and reassuring me on my choice of POR.

Hi Odie...

No, we didn't get a chance to go to the campfire...there was so much to do at night and we were a little bummed we couldn't do it all. But, it gives us more reason to go back...

The bus stop was about a three minute walk from Building 14. We quickly learned to cut through the parking lot for the closest walk. Very easy.

Also...sorry, but we didn't go to the FQ pool. We would have loved to, but just never found enough time!! We went to Ol' Man Island twice. It was wonderful - crowded, but plenty of room for everyone. The kids were having a blast there, and the waterslide was really fun, even for adults. And we went to one of the quiet pools once too. It was nice - not crowded at all, but not really "quiet" either - there were several children there having a good time. :sunny:

And to Annieps4 - Yes, the room was refurbished. It had the curtain separating the bedroom area and the bath, and a refridgerator was provided. When we got there the fridge was barely cold, we called Housekeeping and they came very promptly and turned it up for us. We would have done it ourselves but you needed a special tool.

So glad to read your positive report and glad you had a great time!! :flower: 43 days and counting for us! I am hoping for building 14 :goodvibes:

We had no idea there is a campfire at POR and we've been there twice. We only knew of a campfire at WL and the storytelling firepit at AKL. Where and when is the campfire at POR?

Hi: It is a beautiful resort. Can you tell me if you noticed whether the magnolia trees were in bloom or have they finished blooming.

Thanks,

Deb.

I'll be staying at POR in 3 weeks for my first time. I would like to know more about the campfire. And also is there anything fun to do for teens? :wave2:

Thanks for the report. Glad to hear you enjoyed your stay and liked this resort.:flower: We're leaving in 3 weeks and will be splitting our stay between Pop and POR.

Also happy to hear that AB's rooms have been refurbished. I am requesting a room in MB (just my preference) but it's good to know that AB's rooms are done now.

Just got back from POFQ and loved it!!~ We stayed in room 3145 and I thought this was a perfect location. We never knew about a campfire. I am still waiting to read someone's post telling the location of that for next time. I did get two towel animals and they were ADORABLE! (Covered with pink and purple fairy princess stickers). What a nice touch. I liked how they had the curtain to seperate the vanity/bath area from the room. My fridge wasn't too cold and I just read another post about "a tool they need to make it colder". I wish they would have had a freezer in the fridge, but what can ya do. We traveled with a baby so that would have been nice to keep our ice packs frozen for the bottles the next day at the park. What do all of you with babies do regarding bottles, jar food etc....other than put it in a small cooler bag...? Any different ideas so I can use it next time?
The POFQ pool was great! The slide was fun for my DD and my DH. I liked the food court they offered as well. Very convenient to roll out of bed and eat Mickey pancakes. They have a great area off to the side with a huge tv and coloring area for kids (and adults).
Hair wraps, portrait cartoon drawings, NICE arcade, riverside boat to take you to DTD (a must see), but bring an extra pair of FEET for walking....
What more can I say? It was fantastic. I would return again in a heartbeat. In fact I am already planning my next trip.............
ps I called the front desk to get some kiddie safe bedrails and they were at my door within minutes. Anything you needed was right there with a smile.
pss where/what is Ol' Man Island

Ol Man Island is the pool area at Port Orleans Riverside

Thank you. I will have to check it out next time.
How does everyone get those cute pics in their post? Not the smiley's, but the larger "icon" pictures....
