i know that before i left i saw some posts about POR and the new amenities that they have. well, we had a fridge in our room when we got there. i had asked the cm at the front desk and he said that all of the rooms now have it, and that if by some chance you get a room that for some reason does not have it, they will bring one up to you.

we were staying in the mansions, we had these very very comfy pillow top mattresses. i just felt like going to sleep every time that i sat down on it :)

we had a very good experience there! we just came back last night. we were there for a week, and i wish that i could have stayed longer.

we got to check out taylor dayne in concert at epcot for the food and wine festival. awesome!

Glad to hear it! We'll be there in January. This is really funny following the post "Disappointed in Port Orleans Riverside" I just read!

i know!! i read that post. i couldn't believe that either! we had such a great time there. just relaxing and enjoying the resort and the parks. we always take a couple of ferry rides to downtown to do our shopping and to get something to eat there. they are especially romantic when you take a ride at night. just watching the lights and the moon reflect off of the water at night is such a romantic setting, or taking a horse-drawn carriage ride around the resort is relaxing too.

it is a moderate resort - it is a thousand times better than the howard johnson's down the street - but it is not exactly the ritz either. what did he expect? now, don't get me wrong if i had the $$$ i would go for the poly or something like that, but for the fl resident price we got it for, it can't be beat! :p

have a great time when you go, i'm sure you'll enjoy it!

You stayed in the Mansions, but do you know if the AB section are getting new beds as well? Will all the rooms at POR be getting new beds? We're going to stay there next April and I was sure hoping for a comfy bed:) ( I have a hard time sleeping at hotels that have firm uncomfy beds)
Also, I have 10 nights booked at POR and I'm thinking now upgrading the last 6 nights at the POLY and stay at POR for the 1st 4 nights only. It's just DH and I for our 25th Anniversary. Do you think 4 nights at the POR is long enough? From what I've seen it's very beautiful and romantic there and I'm just wondering if 4 nights will be long enough to take in all the sights of POR in between doing the parks and all. I don't want to feel rushed on this trip, I want it to be relaxing and pleasurable, enjoying everything that i possibly can in what will be 10 "short" days. Thanks!:wave2:

We'll be at POR after our cruise in early December.

We stayed at FQ last May and the rehab there was great, beds so comfy. Hope we get a recently rehabbed room.

Jen-jen12, which Mansion did you stay at?

We were thinking of requesting Arcadia House.

Thanks:D

I just got back from POR and stayed in Acadian House. I believe the room number was 8063. It was right in frong of the quite pool. It was a pretty quick walk to a bus stop and the marina. Everything was really nice and we had a great time.

we were in Arcadian House, room 8298... second floor though... but we checked in late so wasn't really much else to give us.

have fun! i know that i already feel like going back! lol :teeth:

We came back last night as well!! we stayed on a room at Parterre Place, I wasn't happy when we where told the building but it turned out great, we where on the 2nd floor in a corner room, river view, we checked in early so they didn't had the room yet but they told us what building and when we got to the room in the afternoon there was no fridge, so I called housekeeping and left for the evening and when we came back, the fridge was in there!

We where next to a pool and we had the bridge to the main building really close and since we had rented a car we didn't had to walk to the bus stop (which is further away), we had new beds, and they where great and also coffe makers in the room, we where 2 adults (hubby and me) and it was very romantic!!! I loved it and will definitely go back...

we where at room 9736, Parterre Place second floor, facing the river and towards the pool next to the building....

Glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay at POR. We will be staying at POR for xmas this year. ::MickeyMo

Thanks for posting Jen, glad you had a good time. Looking forward to our stay there in June!

My DH and I will be going in 18 days and I can't wait!!! Been hearing conflicting reports about refrigerators and am glad to hear that they are available at no charge!! Also looking forward to the new mattresses at the end of a busy day!! :D

I am very biased on this subject as you can see from my screen name and my signature!! LOL!! DH and I love this resort - we don't stay anywhere else and we have had so many good experiences there. We just returned from our 7 night stay (10/08-10/15) and we had an amazing time! DH already asked me when I was going to start planning for our trip next Oct - I told him that I already started ::yes::

What section did you stay in? Did you notice if there have been any updates to AB other than new matresses? Oh, and I guess the fridges were added.

Hi Jen,
I'm starting my Disney vacation at POR on Election Day!
Yeah- less than two weeks away!

Can you tell me: do they have coffee makers in the rooms?
I thought I read somewhere that they do, but then read not.

Hope to hear back from you soon- or maybe I'll start a new thread on this.

Thanks,
Danielle

I just asked that same question on another thread, Danielle. Hopefully have an answer soon.

If there are coffeemakers (and I'd appreciate any other feedback to support that there are coffeemakers or not- since I've now read both), how do you work it with filters, coffee and all?

I think I read that they'll give you little coffee packets- but will charge $3 or more each after your first one.

I'd prefer to bring our own filters and coffee, but not sure what kind of filters to even buy. I'm wondering if each room may have a different coffeemaker, so may be difficult to know what kind of filters to bring.

Thanks,
DAnielle
