Just back from Pop!!

We arrived on New Years Day at 9:00 am and stayed for 7 nights. We have stayed at almost all of the resorts and like to try something different each year. Pop was terrific!!! I had a wonderful annual pass rate of $55 per night, you can't beat that! We were assigned the 70's building, but I asked if anything was available in the 80's, my daughter wanted to stay in the rubic's cube building, I also asked for a top floor away from as much as possible!! All my requests were granted! The rooms are smaller than the deluxe's and the moderates, but for the two of us it was perfect. We don't spend a whole lot of time in the room anyway, so it was great. We did swim one afternoon in the computer pool which was nice and warm. I would stay here again in a second. Any questions, I would be glad to answer.

What was the view from your room? We've twice stayed in 50's with lake view and wondered about views on the other side of the resort.

We enjoyed our short stay last month and I'm going back with my 11yo for another short stay soon. I liked my lake facing room a lot more than my room facing the foosball court that I had in Feb (quieter). Hopefully we'll get lake view for our next trip.

BaciBecky, how did your recent trip go? I was hoping to run into you at Pop, but glad I did at Epcot.

Our room was in the center of the building facing the computer pool. When we arrived back at our room at night there were a few people in it, but we never heard a sound!!

LOL, thanks for the laugh! I thought that the "few people" were in your room, but they were very quiet so you let them stay. I don't know why I'm laughing so hard at this image--maybe I need another cup of tea or I need to take a nap.

futureashleydukes - We go every January and this was the earliest we have ever gone, can't get any earlier than the 1st, anyhoo, the parks were very crowded on the 1st and 2nd and did seem to decrease daily after that. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!!

Did you do express check-out or go down and stand in line? Did you ever happen to walk through the lobby at 11 AM and see what the lines looked like? We are checking in tomorrow and DS is sick. Since we arrive at the normal time for check OUT I don't know what to expect.

I am hoping we won't have to wait forever to check in. Even better, I hope they have a room for us when we arrive so DS can have a nap if he needs one before we attempt the parks.

One thing to keep in mind about Check-Outs, is that 85% of them are boom-boom-done. 60 seconds or less.

Glad you liked your stay at POP. We were in the 90's bldg. and we also asked for the top floor. It was very quiet and the view we had from our room was great. We could see the higher fireworks at Illuminations. The kids loved it, and so did we.

Will probably stay there again.

Hi Daisy, thanks for posting! Arriving there a week from tomorrow. A few questions:

1) Is there a decade/building that is closer to parking than the others? I will be using a rental car and don't care as much about the buses.

2) Is it as clean as you expected? Everyone said it was. I am NOT able to get the lower rate, but am paying $77 instead of moving to AS because of comments about how clean it is (and how the AS is not aging too well).

jackskellingstongirl - Yes, I used express check-out...the final bill was on the door in the morning, everything was fine, if you leave a credit card on file it will just be charged to that account. The only reason you need to stop in on your way out would be to pay your balance off in cash or if there is a discrepancy. In and out throughout the lobby there was not much of a line through the day, 5 people maybe, but pop had about 15 behind the counter just waiting to help, we did not have a long wait at all. If you are not too particular about which room you want I am sure they will be able to accommodate you, at least they will try all they can do for you.

fanofdisney - we never used the soda machine, so I don't know, we just bought bottled water the night before, its 1.89 at the food court and 2.00 in the parks. Sorry, not soda drinkers!!

Unofficial Fan - we stayed in the 80's building and the parking lot was just one building next to ours. we crossed it each morning for the bus stop. Very close. The room and the property was spotless, really!! Very clean, new and beautiful.

Is it as clean as you expected?

We were there in Dec. for our first trip to wdw. DH never feels comfortable in a hotel room, but he was happily surprised at how clean it was at wdw, and he actually told me he felt comfortable there.
