Glad to hear it was nice-we actually just booked 3 days there to the start of our upcoming trip. It was a new deal they came out with and we got a promotion code-we booked it for just ourselves before the rest of our family comes in for our family reuinon later in the week at the AKL.

We arrive at POP in 6 days (july 7-21) I cant wait
This is the first time we paid for a preferred room, I think maybe I should call ahead in a few days to make sure they have us listed for preferred.
Should I do this? Does anyone know who has stayed in a preferred room?

Preferred is a paid catagory, so you'll be in a preferred location for sure! Did you request any particular location? Some guests prefer one preferred area over another

We just got back from POP and were in the 50's facing the pool too! We were in the building with Lady though. We had a great time as usual although I'm a little ticked at what they tried to pass off as carrot cake. Last time it was a full piece now it's in a little cup and still cost $3 something. That isn't a POP specific complaint though, it's like that everywhere.

The PoP is great. We thought the bus service was best from there. I suppose it all depends on what time of year you go....

Last September we paid for preferred & the room location was HORRIBLE!! We were in the 60's building, about as far away from the pool, food court & buses with a view of absolutely nothing. Actually our overall experience at POP was so unmagical that we won't go back there again and we're AP holders so we're at WDW quite frequently. ASMu is now our value of choice.

Sounds awful! We stayed at POP 4 times,but never booked a preferred view because we saw some rooms were just as far as the back of the 50's furthest building. So we always requested 50's lake view and had great views/locations.

Our last stay in Feb 2006 was pretty bad and have not been back. We did enjoy POP when it was new - the lake gave it a more moderate feel and the rooms, tho small, we fine. But it became so popular and busy ~ 2 of our stays the rooms were in terrible condition.

Have read good reviews lately, so maybe the rooms have had a light refurbishment. It was out first value after only staying deluxe for many years and it was delightful for those first stays.

May I ask why you prefer ASMU? Thanks -and sorry for the unmagical stay at POP.

ASMu is a much smaller resort & therefore alot quieter than POP. It's also recently been refurbished, which POP has not. We loved the fresh theming in the rooms, the new beds and the curtain between the sinks & sleeping area. Overall it was just so much more of a "magical" resort than POP was. Our standard room at ASMu was in a much better location than the preferred one at POP was. We were actually closer to the food court & pool at ASMu than we had been at POP. Also, we loved the activities around the pool for the kids & the adults. The food court was much better than POP. We had no issues with the bus transportation either. We only shared 1x with another AS resort & that was to AK. At POP we always had to wait for several buses to cycle through before we could get on one to any of the parks. We had many issues at POP with rude, unsupervised kids running everywhere, rude guests & just an overall unmagical experience at POP & that's why we decided to try ASMu and absolutely loved it!

I am at pop with family july 17-22.....5 time in 2 years at pop....its a fun place....
