Tikiman, we just returned from the polynesian. I requested Tokelau 3rd floor and they gave us 3913. The view was terrific. The resort was beautiful. Thank you very much.

That is great!!! That is a very good view for a garden view price. I am glad you got a great room and enjoyed your stay. Did you post a trip report?

Steve

Tikiman, I would also like to thank you for your great website. I also just returned from the Poly (Sept 5-8th) and found all the info on your website most useful. I had a gardenview room...requested smoking (yes, insert GASP here, both hubby and I are smokers) we were placed in Samoa building. Very clean had a fantastic view of the Volcano pool, partial view of the lagoon and very close to everything. We loved it....and just for the record ( I hope I don't start trouble here!!) I did not smell anything offensive as has been posted here in the past. The Poly has now become my favorite resort. However, next visit will not be during The Night of Joy event. We only had three days in the parks, the first one didn't count as we did not arrive until 5pm due to our flight from Phila being cancelled. Anyway, the MK closed at 6pm all nights for The Night of Joy....what we didn't know was that participants were allowed to enter at around 3pm!!! We could not get near MK at 3pm. I have never seen so many people in my entire life!!! They were piling in from boats, buses and the monorails. I really wish this event had been explained to me before so I could have adjusted my plans. Sorry, just needed to vent!!! Still had a GREAT time.

We would like the thank Tikiman too. He told us Tokelou was a great place he was right . I just requested that house as close to the water as possible. We got 1912 what agreat view. I like having the patio we could walk right out to the beach. They had surprise fireworks on the beach while we were there. It was a great view from our patio. Thank you for taking the time for you website and to resond to emails. We had the trip of our lives the Poly is the greatest resort we have ever been too.

Thanks everyone. It is nice to know the time I spend has helped you. I needed some good news. Things have been a little up and down back here. As many know my wife’s father died last year and yesterday was the year mark. We also lost one of our two cats right after returning from WDW and now the second one is in intensive care since last Saturday. I did not know how hard it was to lose a pet and this one I raised since it was 10 days old. I never thought I would be a cat lover.

Thanks for the messages.

BALAMAV,

I keep hearing of these special fireworks at the Polynesian. What was this for and where did they have them?

Steve

Tikiman,

I am sorry to hear what has been going on in your house. I also have a cat. Although I didn't raise him when he was 10 days old (I actually got him when he was about 1 year old), I would feel so sad when he was sick. He is my first cat and I didn't know that I would someone love a cat.

Wish you all the best!!!

CANTW8: Thanks for the great comments on the Poly. We are going on our first trip to WDW in December. I need to request a smoking room as well. Where in Samoa were you? Do they have balconies? I would love a balcony as its only my husband that smokes. This way he can go on the balcony, away from our two girls. Glad to hear it isn't as stinky as everyone writes! I am so worried about that. Any more info would be great, thank you!

We got a message on our room phone Thurs. telling us there would be fireworks at 9.55 for poly, cont.and GF. Probably because MK didn't have any all week. The fireworks were in front of the GF and from the island in front of poly.

Now I don't know which is better Tokelou or Tahiti. I'm so confused. Tikiman, what are the pro's and con's of each. I've heard Tahiti has great Magic Kingdom views. Is this true?

My thoughts are with you. I had to put down 2 cats that I raised from days old also. At the end I was feeding them with a tube, and doing IV's. I finally realized it was time. I never realized how incredibly hard that decision was going to be.

lizzie64,

We are doing the I.V. and feeding tube now. I hope it either gets better or I have to put her to sleep but she can not go on like this.

As far as the pro’s and con’s of the two longhouses, you can see a list on my web pages but I can tell you that if you are paying for a lagoon view room than Tahiti has great views of the MK on the lagoon view side of the longhouse. If you are doing a garden view room that your chances for a good view are better in Tokelau. Other than that they are about the same location. The rooms are the same size and they both have balconies on both 2nd and 3rd floors. The only other thing about Tahiti is the bathroom is laid out different and has 2 sinks.

I hope this helps you make your decision.

Steve

Steve,

My heart goes out to you. I hope she does well with the I.V. Please keep me posted. and know that you're doing everything you can humanly do for her.

We are doing lagoon view, so I guess it's Tahiti for me. Now to decide whether to request ground floor or an upper floor. I've heard that the vegetation can make the upper floor view obstructed, but wouldn't that be the case with the ground floor as well?

Jeez, and I thought planning concierge at the AKL was a lot of work!!!

Tikiman- I hope your kitty does ok!!:(

I want to thank you for your site!! We are now thinking of trying Conciege this trip!!! :-) It sounds like the food will be worth the extra money!!
I will be checking into your site ALOT betwen now and Jan!!!!!! :D

We lost our wonderfull Golden Retriever this year. I never thought it would effect me like it did. So I know how you feel. It was exactly like the other post said they called the night before and told us it would be the next night at 9:55. It was great since we were not there on Sat for MK fireworks. We could see them fron our patio. I love the Poly I would tell anybody to stay there. Thanks again. Brenda from Ohio

Tikiman - I hope everything works out with your cat!! I am allergic to cats but I know if anything happened to my lil Yorkie I would be devastated. I will keep you in my prayers.
I also just want to thank you for doing such a great job on your website and keeping us all informed!!

Thanks

Tikiman,
I too want to thank you for the advice you have posted on your site and here. My Dh and i stayed in Tokelou room 2912, just a couple days ago. It was a great view, we really enjoyed our 17th anniversary there. I had a rose with baby breath delivered every day i was there and pictures of mickey and minnie signed by the staff. and certificates too. It truley was magical.
Thanks so much for all the info or i wouldn't have decided to stay there without all your great advice.
I don't have any animals because of my dd breathing problems but i do hope your cat gets better.

Tikiman,
I know where your coming from. My DH's Father passed away in Aug. and our dog, truly our child, passed away Christmas Eve of last year at 14. I wish I could say it is something you can get through quickly, but we still say goodnight to our baby "buddy".
