Just back from Poly...

Come on guys. No one is calling anyone a liar. In fact, twinkle didn't call anyone out by name. I'm sure all she (he?) meant was that not everyone has a bad experience at the Poly.

Please everyone dont believe all these negative posts about the Poly. They are NOT true. We have stayed there numerous times, the last one a month ago.Room was big, clean and comfortable and i'am extremely hard to please.Oh and i had no problems with the cast members either.

Sorry but that is saying that my posts are not true. People who do not tell the truth are liars.

If she didn't mean that, why hasn't she come back and said it? She could have said as others have that she didn't have the same experience.

If I said " Please don't believe all these positive posts about the Poly. They're not true." I'd be calling those posters liars. The difference is I wouldn't say that. As Snape pointed out ( thank-you, Snape), I have been on the boards for 5 years. There are always posters who do not agree with each other and that's fine as long as we respect each other.

I'm in agreement. Understood its probably dated (since its older) and it may be hit or miss but since I've never stayed there I'm willing to take my chances so I can experience the grounds, location and whatever else it may offer. I've certainly had worse experiences on vacation than the worst that Disney can offer.

Exactly John Darling. No names were used and the word liar as well. What they are seeing with their eyes just happens not to be what myself and many other posters see . And the amount of time i have been around the board should not even come into play here.Found that a little rude along with the changing of my name. Thanks for stepping in .

Who are people going to believe Rie'smom and Joshua who have, from what I can see, been here forever or TwinkleTroll, who just joined in December.
Thats incredibly rude!
I don't think the amount of time you have been on these boards has anything to do with it. We had a fabulous time at the poly. Our room was spotless. Cm's were awesome. Its unfortunate you did not like the poly, but like it or not some people actually had great experiences. I guess my opinion is not relevant because I just joined the dis.

I believe the irritation lies in the fact that other people's experiences are not irrelevant because they weren't followed by hula dancers farting pixie dust every second we were at the resort.

I gave my vacation dollars to Disney and I expected a clean room, among other things. I'm not a jerk or a killjoy because I was disappointed. But I'm not going to sugar coat it either. It was nice, but I didn't find it to be worth the price. Next time we'll just go there for dinner and to watch the fireworks.

It's not you, it's your phraseology.

Instead of "they are not true," you could have said "they don't match my experience."

Why?

Statements that are not true are by definition false.

False statements are lies.

Those who make false statements are liars.

Ergo, those who made the statements you claimed are "not true" perceive that you are, by extension, calling them liars, and they certainly disagree with that characterization. Had you said their statements "didn't match your experience," it would just appear to be a disagreement in perception or experience quality instead of a personal attack. Hence, the observation that your phraseology choice, not your intent, caused the problem.

"Think twice, post once."

NOT true = untrue

Untrue = Falsehood
Synonyms - canard, deceit, distortion, lie, misrepresentation, prevarication, whopper, beguilement, betrayal, blarney, boondoggle, cheat, circumvention, cozenage, craftiness, cunning, deceitfulness, deceptiveness, defraudation, dirt, disinformation, dissimulation, double-dealing, dupery, duplicity, equivocation, fast one, flimflam, fraud, fraudulence, guile, hokum, hypocrisy, imposition, insincerity, juggling, legerdemain, lying, mendacity, pretense, snow job, sophism, treachery, treason, trickery, trickiness, trumpery

OR, you could just say, "Sorry, that came out badly. We didn't experience that."

:lmao: I'm sorry but I just keep imagining Tink and friends pooting glitter!

This thread has become so childish. Maybe somebody should put a end to it.

As long as you remember that if you had a good experience that makes you a disney apologist, everything will be fine.

Oh, and if you have a low post count, keep your opinions to yourself. They really are not valid.

Bottom line is not everyone has the same experience. Some good and some bad, but people mostly post about the bad. Ultimately it will be whatever you experience that counts, not what someone posted on a message board.

Now lets get back to the task at hand.

Just to say - using your points at any non-DVC resort on property is just a BAD use of points in almost all cases, esp. with the $95 fee you have to pay on top of the points. Good for someone who has a bunch of points that are going to expire anyway, and you might have been in that situation, but otherwise not a good deal at all. DVC members would be better to rent your points and use that cash to pay for the room (and hopefully then get a discount which you can't do with points).

All said, I love the Poly and our last 2 trips there were fantastic, including our rooms. We did stay in Hawaii on both of our last trips though. Poly gets more scrutiny I believe because the price is so high, but I think you can see the same complaints about every resort. It just hurts more to get a bad room when you're paying so much, but luckily I haven't had that experience.

The Captain Cook's thing though, as I said earlier, is way out of line.

Meagan. Whatever you do never again should you use your DVC points to rent a regular room. You just lose too much value. If you want to stay at a non-DVC go cash ressie and look for the deals.

DVC points or money doesnt matter (I didnt have that kind of $$ at that time.. I was a full time college student).. our trip was still our trip and we decided to stay there bc it was my DH (bf then) first trip ever to WDW and I wanted him to have the full Disney experience. I had always wanted to stay at the polynesian but looking back I truly wished we stayed at the Contemporary. This was 4 yrs ago I knew nothing about renting points etc.. you only live once.. and Im fine with using the points I was just disappointed in the resort. Thank for your input though.:)

The Poly to me has always just been so Disney! Guess I have a similar opinion as Joshua Me in that regard. Always been a 'happy place' in my mind.

That said, if you charge an arm and a leg, expectations rise. Think the Poly has hit this point that the resort cant (under the best of circumstances) deliver on the expectation.

On top of that, Disney goes alot longer than their competition before refurbing their rooms and it shows.

You would think they would address this...but, since the buying public continues to pay, they dont really have to.

So, the earlier your join date, the more honest you are? :confused3

:lmao: :rotfl2:

Testing this theory, because I've been on the DIS boards for over 10 YEARS NOW:
"I hate Walt Disney World!"

OP, the snack credit story is simply OUTRAGEOUS. I would have been furious. Please let us know how Disney responds.

Of more interest to me is that everyone on here seems to be of the common opinion that one shouldn't find mold and paint chips in a deluxe resort that costs $300/night.

While this is true, I would go so far as to suggest that those conditions are not acceptable no matter WHERE you stay on property. Whether you are paying $80.00 per night or $300, you should be able to expect the room to be basically clean and in good condition.

We were at Captain Cooks the night check out getting a late night Dole Whip and a mug refill and we noticed the rice krispy mickeys and I thought they'd make great souvenirs so I grabbed 4 from the overflowing basket. I told her what I was doing and when she gave me my receipt and saw I had over a dozen snacks left, she encouraged me to come back just prior to leaving to wipe out my balance and to take souvenirs home. I thanked her and made a mental note to stop back.

When I returned the next day, however, and tried to get 8 of the treats to use all of my credits, a manager who was standing next to my cashier and snapped, literally snapped, "you CANNOT use all your credits at once" and then yelled at the cashier who started to process my order. I was taken aback by her attitude and I apologized and said that I was told that I could last night. She very rudely stated that no one can use more than one snack credit at once (which I knew was untrue at that point). So I put 3 back and asked to just take the 5 and she shook her head no and again said (with an attitude) that I could only buy one. I asked her why that was and her response again was that I could only use one at a time. I took out the rest of my families KTTK cards and said that I was taking one for each member of my party, that they were in the lobby waiting for our ME bus to return us to the airport. At that point I got angry and decided that since I hadn't had this problem from anyone else, anywhere else during our stay I was going to push the issue. I stepped aside and let the line behind me move ahead and asked her again why I couldn't use the balance of my snacks. Her reason changed from the one snack at a time to the fact she can't let me take so much of the stock, it needs to be saved for other customers. I looked at the basket of 30+ treats and stated that me taking 5 or taking 8 isn't going to exhaust her supply. Before she could reply, I also added that the treats are there so that we could buy them...I PAID for my deluxe dining plan and whether I have cash in my hand or I'm using dining credits, I should be treated the same way. I asked if she was really going to turn me away from buying EIGHT treats. She told me she was!! She told me I could go the GF's quick service stop (I forgot the name she told me) and buy my remaining 3 if it meant that much to me! I told her I was fifteen minutes away from my ME pick up time and I didn't have time. She told me that she couldn't help and she walked away. I was SHOCKED. The cashier overhearing all of this apologized to me and told me to send in another member of my party to buy the remaining three so that's what I did. I ran to the lobby and sent my DH who went in and got them. We just made our ME pick up and it sent me to the airport FUMING. Unfortunately, I didn't catch her name or I may have called and complained. She was a younger girl with long black hair...anyone that may recall her name, I'd greatly appreciate it. :)

Anyone else ever have an issue like this regarding snack credits?

HOLY COW!!!! We had nearly 20 left and we cleaned them out with no problem. We took the mickey heads, m&ms, skittles-etc. 2 qs meals for our party of 5 and still gave away 3 qs meals for the guests behind us!!!! We have never had a problem with the meal plan I even ask if we could just not do the dessert sometimes-too much food. I would have immediately gone to the front desk to talk to someone about it....that stinks.

Some truths about the Poly...I have stayed there.
It does smell very moldy!!!! can't stand that smell. One night in our room we heard a loud bang....it was part of the ceiling crashing to the ground. Thankfully, we were sleeping and it was near the vanity area. We were moved to a much nicer room with a view of the lagoon and a patio to the beach and refunded the nights stay.

I realize that this could happen anywhere...but I won't be shelling out money for the poly anytime soon.;)

Whoa. Maybe it COULD happen anywhere, but I'm fairly certain having the ceiling cave in on you is cause for concern. LOL.
