POLY VILLAS: Hi everyone! Just got back from a great 6 night stay at Poly & AKV. The Polynesian is gorgeous, and the deluxe studio villas are spacious and beautiful. We were in room 3019 with a direct view of the castle and fireworks. Spent 2 nights there.

I will say there's no need to go anywhere but your balcony with this room. It's in the Moorea house (sp?)
The room was very comfortable. I traveled with a friend. She slept on the pull out sofa and said it was more than adequate, very comfortable.
This is an awesome resort to stay in if you are going to dine in the hotels around the monorail or want to be in the Magic Kingdom.
One thing I noticed, is that it is a noisy place. Lots of hustle and bustle and the Moorea building is just a couple of minutes walk to to Ticket & Transportation Center, so all day long you will here the boat horn.

That being said, it wasn't a bother to us during the day at all, and we didn't even notice it at night once the balcony door was closed, so don't let that stop you from a great place to be! The grounds are so pretty and the location is fantastic.

We had one problem with getting blankets. This room sleeps 5. There were no blankets in the room other than the thin one on the bed and only the bed pillows. No extra's. We had to call 3 times to get blankets delivered. The one on the bed is ridiculously thin, so I needed one extra for that, and my friend needed two for the sleeper sofa.

That was the only problem.

We enjoyed lunch at Kona, counter service at Captain's and some yummy drinks at the lounge by Ohana. I recommend a stay here and will do again sometime in the future.

AKV KIDANI:

LOVE LOVE LOVE this resort! It's one of our home resorts and will always be a favorite of mine. We had a sunset savanna 2nd floor studio. While the studio's are smaller than the Poly's (can't figure out why the Poly warrants a huge 55-60 inch flat screen and AKV has little ones, but whatever - I am a TV person), they are more than comfortable, except that horrible pull out sleeper. We had to share the bed, and I'll never agree that these are queen beds, they're clearly doubles. How they advertise them as anything else is a mystery. But the beds are quite comfortable, the bathroom more than adequate (Disney, put in magnifying mirror's please), and the mini kitchenette was perfect for breakfasts and afternoon coffee.

The savanna view is amazing, I usually request this view when staying here. We were in room 7654, wayyyyy down from the lobby, but very okay by us. We had all the animals come by a couple of times each day. A great way to have coffee in the moring....watching them stroll around! The staff friendly and accommodating. Always saying hello, etc.

We had dinner at Sanaa. Food is good not great considering the prices, but they do take the DVC discount of 10% on food at dinner too, making the prices is alittle easier to swallow (pardon the pun!) All in all we love the place and love sharing it with family and friends.

To me, the resorts are a big part of the vacation, especially when staying with an all adult party. We tend to get quite a bit of time hanging around the room, the lounges, the restaurants and the pool.

That said, I have one major issue. Kidani has no quiet pool, okay, no problem, I spend a bit of time there regardless, but those DJ led pool games with that speaker for the mic going on aaaallll afternoon is out of hand and doesn't allow for any relaxation, even when you park yourself as far away as possible. I have no problem seeing the little ones have a great time, dancing, singing, and yelling out the answers. No problem at all. But they really really need to turn down the volume on the speakers that the DJ talks into. 1) the kids are right in front of the DJ or in close proximity to that area and 2) for the people that are on the completely opposite side of the pool perhaps the reason is that they're trying to relax? I get that the games don't start until 1:00, but they went until 5:00 pm. That seriously limits the opportunity for daytime pool time. MHO, but I don't think it's too much to ask to lower the speakers opposite the DJ area and give us all adult parties a chance to relax by the pool.....

Other than that, a fantastic split stay trip with my bestie and we had a ton of fun at both beautiful resorts!

I agree able the noise from the pool parties last way too long. Because of that I will not stay in a room facing the pool--way too much noise. When at the pool it is often hard to find a quiet spot in the afternoons and using a balcony near the pools is not fun IMO. I am surprised at the volume of the pool parties especially at AKV. It is so quiet there that the pool party noise just takes away the ambience IMO.

It is a shame they cannot take a tip from Aulani and have the pool parties last only 45 minutes and not every day. They really get more participation and there is not a single trivia event in sight.

Glad you had a good time!

Funny you should mention the bed size. DH and I just returned from WDW. We stayed 3 nights at ASMu, and I let him have his own double bed since he's 6'9", and I knew we were spending the next 6 nights at AKV and BLT with a 'queen' bed. When we moved into AKV studio, I really didn't think the bed looked any different than the beds in ASMu. DH said it was wider. By the time we moved to BLT, I didn't think to notice anymore.

ETA - DH told me last night that he fit the length comfortably in all 3 places we stayed (ASMu, AKV studio, BLT studio), so he thinks the double in ASMu was extra long (80"), but the width of the bed was not as wide.

Btw, AKV is now my favorite resort, too! (We own at HH and VB).
