aloha!
We just returned from the Poly 5/7-5/13. This is our fourth time at the POLY and it was awesome each time. We arrived 5/7 at 11:30am. Our room was ready. We were assigned a room in Tuvalu. When we got to our room we were dissapointed that it did not have a lanai. We use the lanai a lot to relax and read. Sitting on the lanai and listening to the breeze blow through the palm trees is soooo relaxing and tranquil. DH walked back to GCH to ask if we could be moved to a room with a lanai. Luckily they were able to move us to a lanai room in Tahiti on the 3rd floor. We loved this longhouse because the room was a little larger and it was close to the TTC. We have previously stayed in Fiji twice and Tokelau once. Honestly, I feel that there are no bad rooms or views at the POLY. This is my favorite resort hands down. I love the tropical feel throughout the resort. The luscious greens and the beautiful plumeria trees, hibiscus bushes and the aromatic gardenias are pure paradise. This trip we saw lots of rabbits and baby bunnies along with ducks and their ducklings. It is so relaxing to walk along the torch-lit paths at night. I love the theming of the rooms. Tahiti had double sinks and there is plenty of storage room. Our room was very clean and mousekeeping did an excellent job. Our room was cleaned by noon every day. We had a hammock on the beach behind our longhouse where I chillaxed and enjoyed a mai tai. We had breakfast and dinner at Kona Cafe and both meals were delicious. Captain Cooks was just ok. We found the entire staff to be very friendly. There were only 2 negatives. The first being that the dole whip machine was out of order and the second being that we had extremely loud neighbors the enitre time. They would come back to the room late at night with little kids and the kids would be screaming and running around for an hour before they would settle down. Aside from these minor things we had a great time at the POLY and will be returning soon.

It seems we were there the same time just about! We were there from May 9 -13. We stayed in Tuvalu (3rd floor) and i really didn't care for the room at all, but the view was amazing. LOVED it!!!!! Were you at the luau? I really wasn't WOWED by it. I thought the food would be better too for the price (dining deluxe plan, 2 sit downs per adult!) !!!
We loved the Polynesian, such a beautiful place!!!!! LOVED Kona Cafe. Just LOVED it. Ohanas was very good too, we ate there for dinner our last night there (may 12).

I would love to go back there ,just not Tuvalu. It was too small for our family- 2 adults and 3 little ones!!!!!!

I posted a thread with lots of pictures when i got back! Maybe we crossed paths...who knows.

I am glad you enjoyed your trip though, I am so depressed being back in 'reality' now...lol.

I always love reading reports about the Poly! We've stayed there 2x and do like it a lot. We stayed in Samoa last trip facing the volcano pool and the view was spectacular, especially for a garden view. I've read recent reports of people saying their room at Poly was just "so so" and this shocks me because we thought our room in Samoa was very nice. Maybe because we're used to smaller rooms at BC/YC/BWI. Anyway, thanks for the report!

Kerry,
We went to the Luau last year and we weren't impressed either with the food or the show. However, our Luau was special because leilani came home. rotfl:

Glad to hear that aside from the dole whip machine being out of order (I've had this happen during a stay) and the noisy neighbors that you had a great stay! :thumbsup2

I know what you mean about the lanai. When DD8 and I stayed in Tuvalu we had a lanai with a lagoon view and it was wonderful. :cloud9:

If there are "no bad rooms" why did the OP have to be moved?

I'm the OP

The only reason we asked to be moved was because the room didn't have a lanai. This might not matter to some people, but we use it a lot during our stay. :)

I agree with basically everything in the OP. We have been there 2x since August. We just got back April 13. This was DW birthday gift. We had MK view in Tuvalu 3rd floor. Nothing bad to say.

We are set to go back August 20-31. I have been reading a bit more on the POLY. I am starting to think the best room location is somewhere near the bus stop and TTC.

Last year we were in Samoa. That was also great.

I can tell you that it wouldn't really matter what building we were in. BUT, we have taken a liking to the 3rd floor rooms with the sit down balcony's with table and 2 chairs.
