Just back from Poly...it ROCKS!

There wasn't any work going on at the monorail platform...everything looked fine :) We loved watching the electrical water pageant and Wishes from the Poly beach while drinking "lava flows" (pina colada/strawberry daqueri)...yum. We didn't even have ADR for O'Hanas and were worked in... it's amazing what people will do for you when you are nice to them. If you go, don't be a bonehead like me and leave your camera in the room :sad2: I didn't get a shot of the kids doing the coconut races. The pineapple bread pudding with hot caramel sauce made me feel better, though :rotfl:

did they do away w/ the banana dessert? :sad1: It was soooo delicious.

What building were you in? I have requested Tokelua this time as I heard the housekeeping is good.

When we stayed at the Poly last October, we ended up in Tokelau on the third floor, and we loved it. Very good location, and yes, the housekeeping was top-notch. :thumbsup2

kdk1188 - I'm glad to hear that you had such a wonderful time at the Poly. :goodvibes

We requested Tokelau months in advance (and confirmed it again before we arrived) but were 1st given Aero... I politely told them of my request and could they please look for any room available in Tokelau. It was n/a and we were given 3rd floor Tahiti. Furthest away from GCH but closest to TTC. Housekeeping was excellent.

Thanks so much for the update! My family will be there in 3 weeks! I can't believe it is really happening! We will be in 4 rooms at the Poly, and can't wait to get there! I'm a little nervouse because we will be checking in late at night, but anywhere at Disney will be great!

Glad you had a nice trip!

The POLY...my first and still my favorite!

More food porn from SeaSpray!:thumbsup2

Actually, I recall the Ohana dessert being pineapple bread pudding with vanilla ice cream and bananas foster sauce. We ate it all!

Hmm... :scratchin I don't remember pineapple being in there, but you know, it's totally possible that there was and that I just don't remember it! lol We've been going to 'Ohana since before they changed the menu, and I'm fairly sure that this is the same "new" dessert that they've had for the last couple of years. Either way, it's very good!! ::yes::

P.S. You're right, the sauce is "bananas foster" sauce, which to me tastes like a caramel sauce with bananas in it. :)

The "lava Rocks" sounds good. The first timw we stayed, we got hooked on the "penya colliders" (my spelling) the staff made them special for us.

Pirate translation:
Arrrgh arrrrhhhhh, the new grog I be drinking at me port call in the islands. The crew and serving wench wa'good to the 'ol Pirate last port call. Nariy did I 'ha to make the landlubbers walk the plank. Arrhhh arhhh.

You lnow SeaSpray, I did not taste much pineapple in the dessert. Maybe our server just got the details wrong? How wil we know the exact, absolute truth???? Oh yeah, WE'LL JUST HAVE TO GO BACK! (I am waiting to hear that I won Powerball:rotfl2: ) You'll get there first, so let us know! We don't plan to be back until 2009 or 2010 because next summer is Hawaii (the state, not the longhouse). I am looking for resorts in Hawaii that have tiki torches like the Polynesian, so if anyone has advice...

I told me DW about the pudding and she saw the pix, so now he GOTTA GO and have that when we are there next month!!!

If that keeps up, I can ride the rides by myself, using two seats (burp!)

Glad to hear this! We switched from AKL to Poly for 9/15-9/22 and we are super stoked!

In our family, we only want to go if we can stay at the Poly. We've always had wonderful trips w/ great CMs & housekeeping.

Last visit was a year ago in Roratonga. We supposedly had a standard view of the quiet pool, but we could see MK & even the castle. No towel animals, but that's not going to make or break the trip for us.

Aloha!

Does booking a garden view room mean you get a particular building? Or should we just ask for a particular building and you get a garden view. Which building is best positioned in terms of convenience?

If you're booking a standard Garden View you can request the Longhouse you wish to stay in, however since it's a request it might not happen. However if you were to book a Garden View Club Level room in the King Kamehameha Club, you would automatically be in Hawaii Longhouse. So that is the only case where you don't request a specific Longhouse.
