Hi all,
Just back yesterday from 4 nights Poly GV concierge, room 3040.
We had a great time, with the only negative being thanks to mother nature...e-ticket night Fri cancelled due to heavy rain and flooding of main street..the park was evacuated at 11:00:( . They did however refund our money, which I thought was a very nice gesture. Here are just a few observations:

1. Tahiti bldg is far away from the GCH, but very close to the TTC. It is much easier to catch the monorail there.

2. No smell that we noticed.

3. Food was very plentiful, but the lines were long. We made sure to be in the conc lounge a few minutes before 5 each evening, and there were at least 10-20 people in line already.

4. I really thought the set-up, in the conc. lounge was very good. The only thing I didn't care for was the way they set up the tables for eating, MK viewing in two rooms. They actually took the furniture out of two connecting LV rooms and put up tables and chairs. I felt like I was in someone elses room. Really not a big deal though.

5. I noticed one guest talking with Chef Dick one evening, and then pulling out a large tip ($100). The rest of the nights, they really seemed to be getting royal treatment with special treats, food requests.

6. Really far from the pools, esp the volcano pool.

7. Close to the bus stop.

8. All in all, I felt that service was very comparable to when they were set up in Hawaii. the only difference is location and MK viewing.

Can't think of anything else...will try to answer in questions

Yep, money talks. Even our beloved Disney CMs can be bribed. Oh well, I hope the other guests weren't ignored for not tipping Chef Dick. Would you do the Poly concierge again?

Sorry you missed your e night. Did you get caught in the flood?

I'm glad to read that you had a nice trip. We are leaving for the Poly GV Concierge in a few days and I have a couple of questions...

1. Were there robes provided in the rooms? If not I will have to pack my own :-(

2. Could you just walk right into the Tahiti bldg or did you have to use your room key to enter? I've read several reports of non concierge guests being in the lounge.

3. How were the crowds?

Thanks in advance!!!!

Other guests were certainly not being ignored. Believe me, as hard as Chef Dick and his staff work to keep up with the demand, a perk every now and then is well deserved.

We will probably stay at Poly conc. every time. This makes our 4th, we really like it. We would consider other resorts, but the convenience of being right next door to the TTC is just too easy.

We didn't get caught in the storm thank goodness. My DD12 is scared of storms, so we left before it really got started with the plan being to come back when it was over. Well, at 11:00, it was still doing some thunder and lightning, but had really slowed down and just a few sprinkles. As we headed to the TTC, a mass exodus of people were coming off the monorail. We talked to some people and they told us about the park closing and the flooding. She said that they waded in ankle deep water on Main St, and tried to catch the ferry to the Poly but it was also flooded with ankle deep water. She said they were stuck inside a bldg in the MK for 2 hours. It really was a big storm.

There are robes provided, and yes, you have to use your room key to get into the building. The crowds were large, but pretty manageable if you do it wisely, i.e...fastpass, e-ticket, get to the parks early. Tracey

Hi Hoosier...I'm from Indiana also...you can see where my my name!

Was your room quiet--location away from the elevators, etc? What kind of a view did you have?

Did they have things your kids would eat--do they make "requests'" if you ask?

Did you get the towel animals?

Also at the pool do they provide towels...if so are they a decent size or should we pack our own?

Did you drive/fly? What airline?

Thanks for posting and answering questions!

Hey Kokomom,
Our room was fairly quiet. We were the next to the last GV room at the end of the bldg closest to the TTC. The only noise came from next door...a fairly noisy baby/toddler.

The food selection for at least my dd was good, rice or noodles each evening, barbeque ribs, grilled chicken, beef on a stick, chicken wings and drummies, crackers and cheese, fruit, veggies, PBJ. Didn't make any special requests.

No towel animals.

Towels provided at the pools, I would not was packing space.

Flew from Indy, ATA, non-stop.

We are also on ATA....have never flown with them. Did you like them? Did you use a towncar to get from the airport/

Thanks for answering!

ATA is okay we like delta better. There was 4 adults and 5 kids on our last trip and we had a van from happy limo wonderful mention mousesavers for a discount....

I did not tip Chef Dick any money, however quite a few people came up to me and asked how it was that my children were getting special food from Chef Dick, to which I replied that they have severe food allergies to nuts, eggs and all dairy products which pretty much left them out of most of the food so he made them plain ham sandwiches on special bread, and baked them a special dessert every night that was safe for them to eat, I have to say he did a great job with their food allergies this was back in November of 2002 one of my DD's got very ill that trip and with the hospital being in the picture for 5 days, I never even thought to tip him for all he did for us.

Kokomom,
Sorry for the delayed response, been busy trying to catch up around here..what a drag. Anyway, we love ATA and always try to use them. FYI, if you join their travel club, which does cost $149 for the first year, and $99 thereafter, you will get 10% off ATA flights. It might be worth checking in to.

We used Mears for our transportation this time, it was more economical since there were just two of us. My brother used FL Tours, with the 1/2 hour groc stop and said the service was great.

Forgot to mention the update on the Hawaii bldg. There is a large fence around the construction area, but we could see the upper floor rooms...they looked like they were being gutted. I asked the CM at concierge about the changes to Hawaii and she said that the changes would not be obvious to the guests, more behind the scene changes to make their job easier..new technology.

We'll be there from 10/7 - 10/14. This was really helpful. I'm glad you had a great time!
