Well, we returned on Saturday night from our stay at WDW. We were there for seven nights and managed to stay at 3 different resorts (not necessarily by choice). :faint: I will try to keep this to just our Poly stay.

We checked into the Poly on Tuesday 5/10. My DH checked us in at 8:00 am, just so we could get most of the paper work done before our day at Epcot. Much to our surprise, our room was ready and they whisked my DH off in the golf cart. Not only to the Hawaii longhouse, but also to our car to pick up our luggage (we thought we would leave it in the car since the room probably wouldn't be ready).

We had made reservations for a Lagoon view, concierge room and I had requested the ground floor. I was so excited when we were given room 1511. This room was great!! We had a perfect, unobstructed view of the castle right from our patio. It was so nice to watch Wishes with my DH while my DS's slept. We also had some "ducky" visitors every morning who seem to make the rounds looking for food. My boys really got a kick out of that.

We really had some "magic" at the Poly. After we came back to the room our first day, balloons and an autographed picture of Belle and the Beast had been left in our room (we were celebrating our 10th anniversary). This was such a nice surprise. The next day, we recieved a nice little "thank you for staying here" note with a Poly chocolate bar. Again, a very nice surprise. On our last day, there was a special delivery for my boys. Each of them recieved a personalized, autographed picture of Mickey and a shell necklace. They also got another Poly chocolate bar. This may or may not be standard practice, but it really did make us feel that we were welcome.

The lounge was great. Morning offerings included pineapple bread, assorted danish, fruit salad, croissants, cereal, bagels, coffee, juice, milk, etc. You could also get bread for toast if you asked. They had jams, peanut butter, cream cheese. It was a pretty nice spread. Afternoons they had goldfish, nuts, pita bread w/hummus, fruit, pb&j's, gummi worms, m&m's. You could also get soda, milk, juice and beer. Evenings they usually had out two hot appetizers, veggies and dip, crackers and cheese, fruit, pb&j's, brownies, etc. Again, beer and wine were available. Late night they offered at least 6 different desserts and assorted cordials. Beer and Wine were available upon request. Chef Dick was there one night and his fruit creations were amazing. I wish I knew how to post the picture!

Anyway, sorry this is so long. If you have any questions, please ask. We had a great stay. The pool was a ton of fun for my boys. Mousekeeping was fine. The room was clean. No complaints here and I can't wait to go back. :teeth:

Yahooooooooo! You made my day! Terrific report from Polynesian! :bounce:

We'll be there in mid July and can't wait. Nice to hear your stay was magical.

Question: was the beer available *anytime* for the asking? Last year I think it was only available after 5 p.m. (but I could be wrong?)

Thanks for the report!

You know, I am not exactly sure on the times, but I want to say that we were in the lounge around 3:00 or 4:00 and there was beer sitting on a tray with some glasses. Again, can't be positive.

HTH :goodvibes

Welcome back and thanks for the review :sunny: We'll be at the Polynesian concierge in 52 days! :flower:

I am so glad about this review :Pinkbounc We are staying Lagoon View Concierge also mid July we are going July 11-17th and can't wait. I was relieved to here this post and how much you enjoyed yourself. I can't wait to go now. Thank you so much for posting. :flower:

What a relief your Poly Concierge report was! I have been reading disappointing things about the changes in concierge and have been worried. We will be so thrilled to enjoy the lounge July 7-14! Thanks so much for easing my fears!

Glad to hear you had a good time!! We were there a few weeks ago and we really liked the Poly and the concierge food but didn't nearly have as good as service as you did. It was right before May 5th so we were thinking maybe it was just really busy. Hope it keeps up the way you described.

Let me ask you, all those surprises, did you request any of those? If not, you are VERY lucky!!!! We only received 2 little chocolates on our pillow 1 out of 5 nights. Are those the poly bars you are talking about?

Everyone, glad I was able to ease your minds a little bit if you were at all concerned about your upcoming Poly stay. Just remember to relax and not get bogged down in the small stuff. Your vacations will surely be magical and I hope you all have as great a stay as we had.

Suzanne74- Actually, we did not make any in-room requests. We did note on our reservation that it was our 10th Anniversary, but that was it. The chocolate bars that we recieved are about 3 1/2 inches tall and 7 1/2 inches long. They have a color picture of the Poly on them and say "Polynesian". They came in a gold box with raffia ribbon.

We did not expect these little surprises at all! Especially the personalized, autographed pics of Mickey for my boys. It certainly was an extra sprinkling of pixie dust.
Suzanne74- I just went back and read your review and I just wanted to say that I am sorry that your stay was less than you expected. I am sure that it is very disappointing. I hope you give Poly another chance. Maybe the CM got a little lesson in better service before my arrival. We did get an "Aloha" every time we stepped through the door. I hope you had a nice vacation with your daughter. I will say that I am spoiled now and don't know if I will ever stay there again w/o having that wonderful view of the castle.

There was some talk on a thread awhile ago about some plastic buckets that were given out to children. I did see these behind the concierge CM's, but I just assumed that we didn't recieve some b/c my children weren't with my DH when he checked us in. I didn't let it bother me. I just bought one for $.94 at one of the stores in the GCH for my 2 year old.

HTH. I hope you all have great stays at the Poly. :goodvibes

I'm so glad to hear you had a nice stay. This is the Poly that I know and love. It's so wonderful to read a positive review. Way too much negative stuff lately.

Thanks again.

I don't want to start a flame here, but just have a question. I am booked poly concierge beginning in a few days, and am just a little worried about people 'hogging' food in the lounges, causing them to run out. Did this happen to you or did you observe it? Did you find the lounge a relaxing place to be? Thank you so much.

I never saw anyone "hogging" any food and the never ran out of anything. Of course, I only made it one night for the hot appetizers and it seemed to me that they had plenty of everything. On our last night, we decided to watch Wishes from the lounge instead of our patio. They had so many desserts out that I actually felt bad b/c we were the only family in the lounge. I think one other family showed up before Wishes.

Several times the lounge seemed "busy", but it never felt overwhelming and everyone was on their best behavior. ;)
