Just back from Poly concierge

How was it? What building and what view? Also, can you confirm another Post earlier that said they had Beer in the Lounge, but you just had to ask for it? I know they did not have this at BC Concierge.

Thanks!!

we are going in Oct. and staying GVC. How was the food in the lounge? How was the check in? Did you just go on around to the Hawaii Bldg to check in? I'm not exactly sure how that works. We went last month but we had a LV Tahiti view. Gorgeous! This time I want to see if the concierge is what everyone says it is. I can't wait. I hope you have good reviews for me! Thanks for your help!:)

Poly concierge was heavenly!! It's in the Hawaii building which is on the beach and close to both the quiet pool and the main pool. The view from GV (we had room 2525) was beautiful garden and a bit of the quiet pool. There were lots of ducks on the ground below us which was very entertaining for our younger DS. It is true, there is Miller Lite available in the lounge, you just have to ask for it. There is also another beer, but I don't remember what brand. You also have to ask for milk, chocolate milk and juice boxes. The food was great, in the AM there are sweet rolls, bagels and cream cheese, English muffins, butter, jams and jellies, dry cereals and fruit salad (melon and grapes). There is a selection of teas, coffee, juice and milk. Snacks in the afternoon included gold fish crackers, gummy worms, potato chips, trail mix, apples, bananas, oranges, lemonade, iced tea, orange/guava juice, and fresh baked sugar, oatmeal raisin and chocolate chip cookies (they were fab). In the evening they some of the things they served were fruit with caramel sauce for dipping, cheeses and crackers, PBJ sandwiches, huge strawberries, veggies with ranch dip and they served BBQ pulled pork, spring rolls, BBQ spare ribs and wine (sorry, my mind is blanking on other things). At night there were desserts, pineapple upside down cake, tropical tarts, chocolate tarts, apple pie, and coridals, Kahlua, Baileys, Drambuie, etc. The staff in the lounge was really friendly and attentive. Mousekeeping made towel animals for our kids and were really friendly also. The only thing was that we had to ask for a crib 3 times which I thought was a little outrageous, so if you need some accomodation like that, note it several times before you arrive. We had a very tired 18 month old by 10:30 at night when the crib arrived.

Oops, I forgot to answer about check in. When you pull in for the valet, let the person know that you are staying concierge. They immediately call the Hawaii building and send someone to take you and your baggage there. You check in on the 1st floor of the Hawaii building. It was so easy and no waiting in line.

Thanks for the info, Ann! :) We can't wait for our first stay there, this summer.

One question: I LOVE Bailey's! Do they pour some for you into a glass? Do you pour it yourself? Just wondering how it's served. Thanks! :)

You pour your own drinks. My wife was drunk every night because here drink was 5 parts Kahlua- 1 part cream. (j/k)

Did you use the bottled water? Is it spring water? We can't wait until August. Thanks!

The only time we used the bottled water was when we wanted some ice water to drink with our snacks. We never used it to fill up bottles for the parks.

Great to hear positive news a week before we go!

Thanks for the Poly CL update!

so there is beer available? I am assuming only during the cordials serving? Who do you ask? is this something you were told about or did you jut blindly ask....kinda curious..never stayed concierge cant wait..

You will make my husband's day! We've been nagging for beer in the lounge during evening service for years (check the sig below ;) ). I'm curious too--during evening service only or also at dessert time? :hyper:

We found out that beer was served in the CL when we saw another guest walk out with one! My husband made a U-turn into the lounge and asked Chef Dick himself :D Beer was available during both the 5-7 pm appetizer/wine period and with the cordials from 8-10 pm, but it was always located out out of sight and had to be requested. Someone was always available behind the buffet counter putting out more food, etc. Beer choices were Heineken and Miller lite; they pour the beer from the can into a glass for you prior to serving. It definitely was a bigger hit with my husband than the wine, tho there was a nice selection of wine, with a chardonney, pink zin and cabernet sauvonigon (sp?).

Tess and Jungle Josh: you will have an awesome time! We just got back from our trip and I am in Poly withdrawals!

Beer! Dh Will be so happy.... who am I kidding, I am so happy! ( I am a Jersey girl through and through!) But YaaHHH, Beer!!!!!!

My husband is dancing in the aisles over this one! He doesn't do wine and concierge stopped serving beer around 5-6 years ago! He is so happy to see it return! For that matter, I'm happy to have a Heineken choice too!

Thanks so much for posting GlennandAnn. Poly Concierge is my fav!! We haven't been since they did over the Hawaii building, stayed in Tahiti last time in the "temp" concierge bulding, so it was nice to hear a first hand report after the move. I'm happy to hear you had a good time. Aren't those cookies wonderful!! We are looking forward to our trip in August.

Thenaks again.

I was also able to get beer during the afternoon. Once the afternoon showers rolled in, my son wanted to hang out in the lounge and watch TV with a snack. Me and several others were able to ask for and receive a beer around 3 in the afternnon.
