Just Back from Poly Concierge. Are Most People There Celebrating Something?!!!

VickiVM, my son's BDAY is the same date as your sons! He will also turn 10 this year! I only WISH we could celebrate it in WDW. WE did celebrate his 5th BDAY there, but we celebrated on his DUE date 12/2! Anyway to get around the holiday BDAY,we have a PARTY on or around June 21st and celebrate the half-year! For us ths is also the end of the school year. So it is a great time for a party! On his actual BAY(12/21) we have a cake and presents for just our family.I am hoping he and I will celebrate his 13th in WDW,since on 12/18 of the same year I will turn 50!!!! Joan:Pinkbounc

Lots of people do genuinely plan their trips to Disney around special occasions-- it is just a great place to celebrate. Our anniversary and dd's birthday are just four days apart, and in late September, which happens to be one of the most fabulous times of the year to visit the Mouse! So we visited for those occasions in 2001 and will probably do the same in 2004.

We don't demand celebrations at every restaurants, however. :D

We been fortunate to stay Concierge a few times and well, we tend to get chatty with the castmembers. The topic of special events came up. The castmembers at the Yacht club said that they like doing things like that. They said that they strive to make things memorable. Some people forgo Birthday, Anniversary or other holidays to put those funds towards a Disney trip (which we do). Therefore, I feel that Celebrating those events even though it "Not" the exact date is fine. Every time we have had a "Special Event" they have know the exact dates and what as well as why we are Celebrating. We never expected anything, but were Surprised by them. I went to the concierge desk and Thanked them and told them how much we appreciated what they did. They told me they love doing things like that, it breaks us the regular routine thing. So I would just go with what you feel comfortable doing. I don't see anything wrong with it unless someone abuses the system. Which most of us would NOT do.

Wendi

We went on our honeymoon to DXL & we told them & they gave us an autographed pic of mickey in front of the castle & 2 keychains. It was nice.
Since then, we've gone to WDW every year on our anniversary & had them note it in our ressie's & got nothing. But we don't mind, we don't pay for anything extra. Every year we do go on our anniversary! But this year, we have to go 2 weeks later than our anniversary because of a wedding we must attend in Boston & a work trip following that. We again, did note it as our anniversary because it is our anniversary trip, just delayed due to circumstances beyound our control. I don't think its tacky. Its not like we even get anything anyway.:)

I don't mean to make it negative. I just could not believe how many celebrations there were that I saw. I figured that there are even more that I did not run into.

Poly Concierge is really a wonderful place and we cannot wait to go back. I just changed our Xmas/New Year reservation to Poly concierge for 3 rooms for our 10 night stay there. Chef Dick is a wonderful person and the food was great when he was there. There was a big difference in food quality when he was off.

Have a great time everyone.
