Just back from the Poly last week (3/12 - 3/19) and I'm here to tell all from the moment we pulled up to the time we departed, the Polynesian hit homeruns in every category!

I have read some concerns about concierge service early this year and I am here to loudly counter that and hopefully ease tensions for those who have saved up and plan on staying in the near future...IMO, you will not be disappointed. Here are a few things we found during our stay...

We were greeted immediately by staff full of smiles upon check-in and quickly whisked away to the Hawaii building (on a golf cart) for the concierge desk check-in. At 11am we found little wait and a helpful & courteous staff - in fact our room was ready and bags delivered. By noon we were in the parks!

Coffee - Yes there is a new "latte" type of machine, and yes that thing is alot of fun! Press buttons and several combinations quickly pour a hot drink; and I'll tell you there's nothing like getting a quick mocha latte for the road at 7pm before going to MK! Fresh pots of coffee are still there, right next to the machine.

Cereal boxes are gone, but my children like dispensing cereal from the tubes better, and were more likely to have more in there bowl plus enjoying a second if they wished.

The evening food service was outstanding all week. There was more than enough for the entire building, and two sometimes three major selections. I know the arguement, but these could've easily been meals, and were a night or two. Again our children preferred the lounge over our $100 dinners!

Plenty of wine and cordials, P&B sandwiches, fruit drinks, hot tea, snacks; incredible location, fireworks & water parade watching, water taxi & beach access...the list goes on & on...

The staff continues to be quick, friendly and invisible, unless you need them (one night at 4am one child was sick; in 10 minutes housekeeping was there).

We don't have rose colored glasses, and I expect value for the money spent. Each year the Poly Concierge has more than exceeded the additional cost. No doubt, some have bad experiences, but I firmly beleive they are not the rule.

I'll be happy to address anyone's particular question (if I can); service, food & value just seemed really important from recent threads/posts.

I was a little conserned, we're booked for July, and have heard good & bad reports about concierge service at the poly. Glad to know my money will be well spent! :cool1: Can't wait to get there!!

Hi TheIncredibles...we are right down the road in Mansfield! Welcome back to Texas!

So glad to hear about your positive experience...the Poly is our fav resort and I was concerned hearing the recent posts on the concierge service.

Thanks for the review!

Thanks for the review. Glad to hear you had a nice time and all your expectations were met.

Last night we watched the video from our Poly LVC trip. The whole experience really was spectacular!! DD announced she'd like to stay there again next trip, lol.

Some things I was wondering about in the lounge: do they still serve hot oatmeal (my favorite)? Can you explain how the cereal tubes work? What about bottled water? What were the evening offerings? Mid day still cookies?

Thanks so much! :wizard:

We'll be there in December, and reading your post is getting me excited about our trip!

Can you get decaf coffee drinks with the latte machine? I know I'll love a coffee in the evening, but it has to bedecaf.

Any special evening hors doeuvres to mention?

Thanks

Julia

Welcome Home :sunny:
Glad to hear things are still Magical at the Polynesian :cool1:

Thank you so much for the great review! I love the Poly's location and the beach area....we might just have to try concierge sometime! I have always considered it but got nervous about reports on mousekeeping and room condition. :scared: Sounds like there's nothing to worry about!!! We'll have to go sometime

:jumping1:

I'm glad you had a great time!! We will be there in June and I cant wait!! :flower:

Thanks for the review. I was a little concerned with the couple of poor reviews. We have alway found the Poly's concierge to be outstanding. I don't have one bad experience to report in our three stays. Glad to here you found the same and had a great time.

Happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay. Our family returns to The Polynesian LVC for 9 days 4/17 - 4/25. I can not wait!! Any update on the construction around Captain Cooks??

Sorry for delay...computer problems.

Pea-n-me - Did not see any oatmeal, but should be easy to get by coordinating in advance or asking upon arrival. Bottled water is available cold in large glass bottles, upon request. There are 4 cereal tubes about 2 feet tall which I witnessed children operating easily. Simply turn a "crank" and cereal is dispensed slowly. I beleive mid day snacks are the same; we missed most because we were at the parks. Nightly dinner food was plentiful - egg rolls & rice one night, skewered meat, mac & cheese, etc., all served pineapple & carmel sauce, veggie plate and something else, can't remember. Many drink choices inclding 4 types of wine at the dinner service.

Julia m - Decaf coffe is available and I'm almost positive the "latte machine" had 2 or 3 selections, too. About 5 late night dessert selections, with as many cordial selections (Kahluha, Bailey's, Grand Mariner, etc). The fruit cups and key lime pie tarts were popular with us. Each night it varied some.

polyman - Did'nt see any construction around Capt Cook's; DD & I ate there one evenig about 10:30pm.

Hope this helps...
