Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful resort.
Now, I may be a little partial, being from New Orleans and everything, but this place is MUCH cleaner than my hometown ;)
Check in was a breeze and a CM came around on a golf cart to help us bring our luggage. My boyfriend and I walked the short walk to Building 3 where we jumped up and down like little kids to find we had bottom floor corner room overlooking the fountain courtyard. It was perfect, nice and quiet!
The pool was great too, even though the slide was a lot dinkier than it looks. And the hot tub is at a distance from the pool, making it quiet and relaxing.
Bus service was always timely. POFQ is the first stop for all of PO, we had to make about four more stops to pick up Riverside, but we were always the first ones off.
The only disappointment I had was that packages are no longer delivered to the room, but the gift shop. Last time we stayed at ASMovies and our souvenirs were always set up cute around our room when we got back.
Mousekeeping, very good, even left us extra pillows when we wrote nice notes (and left nice tips ;) ). One made a toothbrush holder for us with a wash cloth.
Any questions, I'll be happy to ask. We didn't have much experience with the food court outside of cookies and refills on the mugs.

Hi angey77!

My family is going to PO-FQ next week. We've asked for a first floor for my folks, and a waterview for my and my DD. I am so glad you enjoyed the resort! We've stayed at the AS-Sp and offsite, and my folks have never stayed onsite, so I'm thrilled to hear that the resort is so nice. How was the transportation? We'll have a car (going to a wedding offsite), so if it is easier to drive we'll have that option. We chose this resort because it looks small and quiet and peaceful.

Did you eat at the food court? If so, how was the food and what were the prices like? Any budget suggestions?

How was the weather? Did you attend the MNSSHP? We have tickets for the 27th.

Can you tell I'm very excited?

Thanks for any info you might have.

Angey77, just had to post when I saw your were from Slidell. My DH grew up in Slidell. He went to Slidell High School.

We went to POFQ for our honeymoon and loved it. I'm so glad you enjoyed the resort too.

Transportation was very efficient. Picking up the folks in Riverside may have put us back a whole five minutes, but its much better than fighting the parking lots when parks close. I also noticed leaving the parks many busses were parked in the lots so that they could double up at closing.
We did however take our own car to Blizzard Beach. We figured we'd rather be in our own car and go back to the resort instead of on the air conditioned bus. If I'm not mistaken, that bus went to DTD along with BB.
The resort however is a very good choice for adults. Quaint and quiet. I don't know a whole lot about the food court, as far as how the food tastes. I glanced through and saw for breakfast they had omelettes and cinnamon rolls, all kinds of stuff, ranging from about $3-$8. Lunch and dinner, there were traditional southern foods, pizza and your standard hamburgers, chicken fingers, etc. I think the most expensive item I saw was around $9. The mugs were $11.99 each, so my BF and I just split one. We weren't at the resort enough to drink $24 worth of drinks!
The weather was great. We had two little afternoon showers, but nothing to freak over. You should have much cooler weather than us though, lucky!
We did go to the party, I reviewed it on my thread on the Theme Park Actions and Strategies board. It was very cool and very worth the money. My only suggestion is get to the bus stop early if you're bussing it to the party. We got to the stop at 6:15 and it was so packed! Give yourself a little more time.

My DH graduated in '84. We're looking forward to his 20 year reunion in 2004. We had a blast at his 10th.

Thanks Angey77 for the post. One question ... how was the condition of the room itself? Last time we were there (before they closed for some time) the carpets were starting to show the wear and the furniture was pretty chipped. Just curious what your thoughts were on that.

We, too, love the fact that this is the cleaned up version of New Orleans. We just think it is so quaint. We started going before our son was born and are still going now - with him. We really do like it. Glad you had a great trip. Can't wait to be there the first week of Dec...........:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

The room itself was very nice. The carpet was clean and no clear signs of wear and all the furniture was in great condition. The bathroom was clean, but you could see some wears on the tile. My boyfriend was one of the first to stay at POFQ when it opened in the early '90s and he was greatly impressed with the renovation. Our television did black out once or twice for a couple seconds, but other than that, it was quite enjoyable. I especially enjoyed having my own sink and a nice wide ledge to place all my toiletries on, along with plenty of hanging clothes and drawer space.
