Just returned from POFQ, and we loved it! This was our first time at the resort, after staying at (in order) Ft. Wilderness, Coronado, and ASMo. We were in building 4 (4211, on the corner near the stairwell), the closest building to the bus stop. Some comments:
- We used a discounted price from the email posting I received this summer and got a fantastic rate. I was a bit worried that the courtyard views wouldn't be as nice, but we had a wonderful location. I couldn't see the parking lots, only a beautifully landscaped courtyard.
-Loved the size of the resort, especially after Coronado Springs. For a moderate resort, we thought this room was a lot better also. The theming was both more classy and comfortable.
-We received adjoining rooms without any problem, and were delighted to have a free fridge in the room. Kept us from having to change ice everyday in a cooler.
-Loved the boat ride to DTD (although because of the cold front, they shut down service the night we were at Pleasure Island). Heard that the round houses along the shore are completely vacant, but they aren't sure whether to tear them down or not because it is now classified as a conservation area.
-The counter-service restaurant was good- not great, but good. Had a nice dinner there the last night before our flight, and a decent lunch there on our first day.
- Great pool! It was a bit chilly outside, but the water was warm and pleasant. I went swimming one night and had the pool to myself. It's really nice all lit up at night. The hot tub was a bit crowded with some college guys from UMass, but at least they were entertaining.
- Nice pathway and walk up to Riverside. We walked up one morning for breakfast at Boatwright's. Great x-mas decorations with white magnolias, a bit nicer than the ones at FQ, IMO.
- Excellent bus service, both to and from all destinations (except perhaps DTD, but I think this problem is resort-wide). The MK bus was exclusive to FQ and didn't go to Riverside. Stopping at Blizzard Beach before AK was a bit silly, considering it was around 45 degrees outside, but oh well.
Anyway, we had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend this resort. Let me know if you have any questions.
