Went to the midnight showing of "Pirates". Lots of "pirates" and "wenches" in the theater. Movie was very good but I thought the first one was better. There were several scenes from the Pirates ride re-created in the movie. There is also an extra scene after the credits. We stayed and watched though most people left. It was cute but at 3:00 AM, I didn't appreciate it as much as I should have.
The movie really does set you up for the third. There were loud gasps and groans at the end of the movie. You could tell that no one wanted it to end.
The make-up on Davy Jones' crew was phenomenal. Each sailor had some special touches such as starfish on the face or barnacles growing on their bodies. Davy Jones was particularly creepy with his constantly moving and gyrating tentacles.
The stunts were first-rate with kudos to the Kraken fight scene and the three-way duel between Sparrow, Turner, and Norrington. I really liked the end of the water wheel sequence. It reminded me of how I feel after riding the teacups at WDW.
All in all, a good movie but I can't wait for the third!

i went to a midnight showing also, i didnt want to wake my parents coming home so late/early. I do agree the 1st was better, but this one was funny.

Sounds like the original "Star Wars" trilogy, they made the 2nd move (Empire Strikes Back) to keep you hanging until the 3rd movie (Return of the Jedi) came out. The 2nd was good, but not as good as the first or third. So I would have high expectations for the 3rd "Pirates" movie coming out next year-should be real interesting seeing Keith Richards' cameo as Sparrow's father, LOL!!. :thumbsup2

That is insane! Empire is by far the best of the Star Wars movies, prequels included.

i went to the 12 AM showing at downtown disney in anaheim it was mostly cast members We had tons of fun we were all clapping and cheering it was a really great movie. We all didnt want it to end and when it did we were just like... ok lets get new orleans square ready again i cant wait much longer!! It was a fantastic movie :) 8 tentacles up!

I wanted to see the Midnight showing but instead our family saw it tonight at around 4:45pm CA time.

I was so excited to see this movie since I was at the premiere June 24. It was full of laughter, great visual effects, and a lot of pirate action!! Arrhhh Savvy

Some dialogues were hard for me to understand. "Tia Dalma" is one of them. You have to pay close attention what she is saying.

If any of you have Starz network TV, there is a behind the scenes look from POTC2. I watched it right after the movie was over. I recorded it from my DVR.
You may want to check your local listings and your cable programming.

Can't wait for POTC3!!

*just wanted to add that i posted this already in the DL(CA) forum.

Thank You !!!!! I was hoping someone would say that! :darth:

Yeah, all Jedi had was a bunch of Muppets. :-) (Hope someone gets the reference)

Read another article saying basically that Pirates is this generation's Star Wars Trilogy too... and when you think about what happend to Han at the end of Empire... ok hope I didn't go too far into spoilers there.

And to think, when I read they were making a Pirates II I told my brother it was going to be Direct to Video with French Stewart playing Jack Sparrow. I was convinced they could screw it up... but I Loved the movie!

We watched Pirates II at a Drive In movie on Saturday evening in the Northwest Houston TX area.
the Drive In was packed. There were vehicles in the grass.
We really enjoyed it but I cannot wait to see it again and again. It's hard paying close attention to a movie with a 6 year old and a 2.5 year old.
2.5 year old liked the octopus man and the BIG octopus (kraken).

DD8 & I just returned from seeing Pirates - GREAT movie!! Very different from the first one, but we really enjoyed it. Can't wait to see Pirates 3!

BTW...DD8 wore her pirate outfit to the movie - complete with eye patch, hat, parrot, and hat (the sword stayed at home). Everyone loved it!
