Well I am sad to say we are home from our 8 day trip to the world. All 14 of us had a blast plus we met up with my friend and her family for a total of 19 people.
Food First. LOL.
First I have to thank Kevin for all the great food reviews. You were spot on for the ones we picked. My birthday dinner at Narcoosee's was over the top exceptional. The service was outstanding, the food was OMG good. (I had the crabcakes, lobster, and cheesecake) my husband is still raving about how great the meal was and unknowingly we had a great fireworks show. I didnt realize the MK closed early that night. What a way to turn 40. Our second favorite meal was LeCellier which we all agreed the KanasCity strip with coffee rub was incredible. The portion size was huge and we could have shared a steak with the amount of meat we recieved per plate. I cant believe how small this place is. Definately a must do next trip. Chefs De France was a little off the night we went. The food was good for the most part but service was very slow (3 hours for dinner) it was just to much for the kids. Crystal Palace was fun as usual. A new find was 1900 Park Fare. The roatbeef was amazing and the character interaction was really good. Off our list is Boma. It was terrible. The food was just not that good and the spices were off or something. None of the soups were the ones listed on the menu and that is my favorite part. Coral Reef never again. We had lunch with friends (unplanned). Bad food and bad service. The atmosphere doesnt make up for it.
Christmas Party
This was fun as usual. The Twas the Night before christmas show was really good and luckily we had great seats. The kids had a blast doing the dance party and congo line parade thing. The characters were out in full force. We also visited with Santa. The park was EMPTY. I mean no one in line at all for any of the rides. We did the entire park in 4 hours and then did the late parade. I love the Christmas parade it is so special. I will have to post pictures later. I love how so of the floats have smells along with the lights and characters. Very cool. I did have quite a bit of drama however. This is the first time I ever rented a stroller (we have our own but I didnt want to lug it to the party). My son was sitting in the front of the parade line and made a friend named Liam. We had a double stroller for him and my cousins daughter. After the parade my son got in Liams stroller(they all look alike). When I looked down he was not in our stroller but my 2 cousins kids were. OK I AM IN FULL MOM PANIC MODE. My 3 year old son is lost in the parade crowd. 3 of us go running in each direction. We were by Splash Mountain. I go running towards Pirates and Liams mom comes running up to saying that when they got Liam out to go into Pirates Ethan was in there playing with him. OK I will never rent a stroller again. You can't see your kids only the feet. I counted 2 pairs of feet but they were not my kids. OK now that freakout mode has passed we went on Pirates with Liam and his family. The cast memeber gave Ethan a honorary pirate of the the certifiacate for not crying. I am grateful for Disney security. As soon as I told a parade cast member he was missing they locked down the park looking for him. That 5 minutes was the longest of my entire life. I still can not believe it actually happened to me. It seems surreal even typing this out. But all is OK and I have learned my stroller lesson for the day. Short of some stranger telling me she couldnt believe I lost my kid; everyone was super helpful and very professional in getting on the walkie talkies and locking down the exits. I cant believe how quickly they work. OK that is over. LOL. Ethan was not phased a bit and we had a blast. $47 worth of guilt pirate gear later.
Resort:
POP was a nice resort and served its purpose. I dont think I will stay that long at a resort without a hot tub again. It really does make a difference on a long trip. So I would say I probably would do POP for a short trip but otherwise I will stick with the deluxes. My husband wants to try out CR or GF next trip. Not sure which one yet. The buses were very efficient and we never waited more than 10 minutes for any bus.
The Gingerbread house at GF was up and it was amazing. The kids loved all the little santas and made a game out of finding them. None of the other resorts had there decorations up yet. We went a week earlier than we usually go so it was not as decorated as we are used to.
Parks and Crowds:
The crowds were really non exisitant for us. The only busy day was Sunday at Epcot for some reason. It seemed a few schools were there. Most rides were walk on. We loved TSM so all you folks that are lucky enough to go to the party are in for a real treat. The other neat show for little ones was the new Playhouse Disney live on stage show. I think this was Ethans favorite all trip. My little dare devil did ride some biggies though. He did Tower of Terror, BTMRR, Test Track, Splash Mtn, and Soaring. I still cant belive he kept asking to go on the rides. He is usually a very cautious kid. So I let him pick a t-shirt out from TOT as a souvie. The only 2 rides we needed fast passes for were TSM and Soaring. Otherwise no lines were over 10 minutes all trip.
My final thoughts. We had a blast. BUT I think next trip will just be us. It is to hard keeping up with a huge group and most days we split up anyways. The best day was when we met up with my friend and Ethan and his best friend Christopher got to just play together in Dinoland at AK. Watching them run around was more fun than the rides. Grand Gatherings are fun but alot of work.
The End. If you made it this far. LOL.
