Stayed in a 1BR on Miller's Road, #1611, for 4 nights. Checked in Monday, checked out Friday. Check-in was smooth, room was ready, newly renovated and very nice, new sleeper sofa(DSIL spent 1 night with us and used it-said it was quite comfy), room in good shape, pool renovation seems to be coming along, although I a not so sure they'll have it done by mid-December like they are saying. I think the hurricnaes may have slowed them down a bit.

The one area where I think all the DVC units always "slip" just a bit is the bathroom. I always find mold and mildew on the shower door near the bottom and the area around the toilet is usually less than clean. I hate cleaning my bathroom at home, so I imagine the mousekeepers least favorite part of their job is the bathroom, but I do wish that the shower door mildew and the corners and crevices would get a bit more attention.

Glad you had a nice trip! We can't wait to try out OKW in May. I'm afraid we might not want to stay anywhere else. :D We're looking forward to photos of the new slide.

Sorry to hear about the bathrooms. Ewww...I hate mold/mildew!

Mental notes: Buy spray bleach cleaner & scrub brusg. Ask for villa with new sleeper sofa (we loved it too!).

You know, though, I hate the thought of going into a brand new villa and having to clean it. There's part of me that thinks if it was kept up with along the way, there wouldn't be a mildew problem, or not as obvious of a one anyhow.

What kind of view did you have? I'm trying to put together room reports from OKW. Thanks!

Nice view. It was a st floor room with a view of a hole on the golf course looking straight off the deck, and if you looked to the right off the deck, there was the cart path, the side of the next building, and you could see a tiny corner of the parking lot. To the left were more decks and lush shrubbery etc. I don't think there are many bad views at OKW in general. I think in some cases, the shrubbery has grown up and blocked some views, but I'd still rather look at a nice wooded view than a dumpster or something.

remember you are in Florida - heat and humdity - what makes mold and mildew.

It is a problem in Florida period.

especially with WDW kepting the air conditioner off when the room is not in use.

the air conditioner/heater is one of the few things that can do away with mold and mildew.

the South in generally has a bad problem with it.

I just bring my stuff - i am allergic to mold/mildew - so it is a very bad problem for me.

The heat/ac should never be turned off completely in these buildings. I can't remember ever entering a room there where the AC was turned off. Turned down, maybe...but not off.

I believe Disney learned their lesson on that one when they shut down one (or more??) of the Port Orleans buildings after 9/11...mold city!

Yes, it's a problem in the humid south. However, if you clean your shower once a week with some kind of mildew cleaner...it should not be an issue.
