Just back from OKW

Hi all,

Just a mini-report as we are just back from OKW today. If you can go this time of year, the weather was just picture-perfect! However, we were disappointed that the community pools were not heated. We stayed by Turtle Pond and the pool was really FREEZING. I didn't have a thermometer but I know pool temps and I would guess it at around 74-75. DS braved it for about 15 minutes and he came out with chattering teeth and near-blue lips!

We schlepped it to the main pool everyday as it was really wam and balmy (heated). A minor disappointment to have to do that as we enjoy the community pools, but in all a nice stay. We did ask a lifeguard about the pool temps and she just mentioned that it has been cooler and they would start heating the community pools in the coming weeks (why not today????)!!!!

We had a nice refurbished room. Crowds were so-so given it is a holiday weekend with most kids out of school. EPCOT was quite crowded with the food and wine festival. It's a little difficult to maneuver around the crowds in the world showcase area.

Looking forward to visiting OKW sometime again the future...we really do enjoy the atmosphere, large rooms and large balconies.

Which community pools did you try? If it was South Point, that one often is out of order where the heat is concerned. Was the hot tub working? That hot tub at South Point is also often on the fritz.

It was at Turtle Creek. Everything seemed to be in order, including the hot tub, just no heat flowing through those pipes (to the pool)!

I assume you mean Turtle Pond. That is my least favorite pool. I know it is the fav of some, but I find it to always be too noisy.

Thanks for the update! We'll be going to OKW for the first time, in two weeks! I hope the pools will be heated by then.
Question on the weather: was it warm enough for shorts?
We've never gone to Disney at the end of October and I don't know what to pack....mostly for DD8.
