We had a great 10 night trip to OKW. Six of us in a 2BR. Both exciting and relaxing! Upon check-in we noticed that some items were missing from the list of kitchen utensils. Plus, there was no vacuum, and a big cockroach came out from under the sink the first night. Next day I took a list of missing items to the front desk. I explained that there were so many things missing (plus I told them about the roach and the fact that the health club had no clean towels at 7 a.m.) that I didn't want to just call housekeeping and tell them over the phone. The lady called the housekeeping manager and by the time we got back from the MK that day, a herd of people were giving the place the once over. They washed the walls, fridge, bathrooms, etc. They even offered to shampoo the carpets as there was a stain by the TV. We said that they could do that after we left, since we thought it would be a hassle. The room was very convenient to both the bus stop and the turtle pond quiet pool. It's in tip top shape now, if anyone wants to request it. LOL! I'm sure DW and I will post more about our adventures, but thought I would share this tidbit first. The parks were light to medium crowded. Lots of UK Disney fans there! They were great! Any other questions?

Where exactly was the 2-BR you stayed in? What type of view?
BTW, my MIL lives in Gurnee.

Blech! Was it a roach or a Palmetto bug?? (The latter look like roaches on steroids.)

We had a problem with Palmetto bugs when we stayed at the Marriott timeshare in Orlando. (One of those dirt cheap offers with Universal passes.) My poor DD couldn't sleep in that room again.:( :(

It's great that they took care of everything so promptly.

I am really suprised at the service you got regarding your problems with the unit. That is the way WDW was 20 years ago. Maybe with attendance down they might be starting to treat the guests the way they should be treated. Let us hope so. Thanks for sharing your experience.

HK said it was a palmetto bug. They live in the palm trees.. To me, a roach is a roach.

Room 3612 is a dedicated first floor room of of Old Turtle Pond. The balcony looks out over the pond. Being on the first floor, there was some noise from the stairs and upstairs. We could here the unit above us doing their laundry at night...but it wasn't obnoxious, and I am really sensitive to noise when I am trying to sleep. We could hear buses sometime, because the building is next to the bus turnaround, but we were not in the units on the end, we were in the middle of the building.

To me, everyone makes mistakes, so I didn't get all whiny about it. I just brought my concerns up front and expected them to take care of it, which they did. They also gave us a follow up phone call to make sure all was well.
