We got home today from our first trip to OKW. I really understand why so many people love OKW so much. We had a 1BR 5421. It was very close to the bus stop for South Pointe and just across from the South Pointe quiet pool. The room was in good shape. I probably could have found some things to complain about if I tried, but we were just happy to be there and the overall maintenance of the room was fine. Bus service was fine to all the parks. We waited a while on Friday morning to get to MK, but we arrived at the stop at about 8:30, so I realize that's a busy time just before opening. South Pointe was apparently the first stop that morning that anyone got on the bus for MK and by the time we made our 2nd stop - it was already filled to capacity. That was the only time I noticed that while we were there. DH and 2 kids went to DHS that day and arrived for the bus a few minutes after one had pulled off. He said they probably had to wait 30 minutes or more, but then another DHS bus pulled up right behind the one they boarded. We checked in Sunday, Oct. 5th at about 11:30 a.m. We asked for either Turtle Pond or South Pointe and were given our choice of a few rooms in South Pointe which were already ready. We were thrilled to be in our room so early. Check-in was crowded at the time we arrived, and the check-in area was very noisy to me. I was glad to get out of there in a short time. I did stop back by a little later to get directions to Super Walmart and it wasn't near as crowded and was much quieter.
Youngest DS (8) really enjoyed Community Hall. He thought it was pretty cool not to have to pay for all the activities. The main pool was nice and we enjoyed it 3 afternoons. I think whenever we have our first NO PARK trip, this is where I want to stay. It was relaxing, but not too remote. So far, I've never met a DVC resort that I didn't love!

I agree, I have never met a Disney resort I didn't love either. My favorite resort is always where we are staying at the time. Glad you enjoyed OKW. We have stayed there several times and have always enjoyed it.

I couldn't have stated it better myself!!! :thumbsup2

To the OP, glad you had a WONDERFUL time! I absolutely love OKW, too. It's just a beautiful resort.

I'm so glad that you had a good time. We check in in 13 days:banana:   and have 2-2BR in the hospitality area. we have a Grand Gathering so I hope our rooms are close together. I'm so excited. They other family I'm going with have never been to Disney so it is always fun to spread the magic

We leave in 2 weeks as well, and OKW is the best. We are owners at SSR, but OKW is what got us hooked on DVC. Glad you enjoyed your tip!!!

Another OKW lover, mys son would live there if he could. The GV's, if you get the opportunity, are amazing. The lush landscaping... I'm getting carried away, anyway glad you enjoyed your stay!

Love OKW also and just bought there! :cool1:

We're leaving in 28 days for our first trip home as members! Can't wait!

WE LOVE OKW. ITS THE ONLY ONE WITH CLOSE PARKING AND THE ONE AND TWO BR HAVE HUGE LIVING AREAS. THE RESORT IS SPREAD OUT AND PEACEFUL. ALL OF THE DVC RESORTS ARE NICE BUT OKW WILL ALWAYS BE OUR FAV.:cool1:

29 days till we arrive at OKW, can't wait we'll be there for 10 nights of DISNEY FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:rotfl: :cool1:

Thank you for the great trip report we leave in 2 days for our first trip home and we are looking forward to seeing OKW!

melissac Forgot to ask how far Super Walmart is from the resorts and if it was easy to find.

They gave us directions at the front desk. The directions were good and it was easy to find. We took a right out of OKW, then another right once we were past SS. You pass a cool looking Fire Station and turn left (DD is on your right). This takes you to a busy commercial area with restaurants, shopping, etc... It seems like we took another right and Walmart was about 3.0 miles out on the right. It was probably about 6 miles or less from the resort. It allowed me to see that there are plenty of dining options off property that are very, very close! I'll keep that in mind the next time we stay at OKW!
